HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit

Recommended Posts

Cant wait to order my LTZ replacements and throw some real projectors in there. Still debating on the color scheme for the truck. I minimalistically have hues of red going around (Z71 badges, clearance lights, FD sticker,). What do yall think?

I had bought the TRS 2014 Sierra Bi-Xenon FX-R Stage III Kit a while back but never installed. Instead choose to go LED recently and really like it.

If anyone is interested in this kit (never opened), let me know.

Kit has 9006 HD Relay; Capacitor Link; FX-R 3.0 (2.5" Lens/LHD) D2S Morimoto 3Five DSP; 35W D2S 3Five 5,000K lights; & white 80mm LED Rings.

Just installed a Morimoto HID kit from TRS. 35w 6500k. This is the 2nd kit from them I have installed. It was a breeze. But I'm having an issue/have a question about color of output. I got the 6500k Kit..after warming up there's like zero blue to it, pretty yellow of you ask me. Could this be a grounding issue?

I have a 15 Sierra 2500 SLE. Purchased a set of HID's from opt7. Worked great for a couple days. Now I'm having a problem when the truck is cold. I turn it on and only the passenger side wants to turn on. I turn the lights off with the knob and then back on again 5 or 6 times and then they will usually both work. I tried contacting OPT7 and they were at a loss. They sent me 2 new ballast still the same problem. I tried it with the canbus thing and without. Still the same problem. Currently I'm running the relay to the ballast to the bulb. This is their 35w slim line ballast system. I tried moving the ground wire to a different spot and that didn't work either. The problem happens both with DRL's and/or when the low beam comes on at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Received everything from trs today. Managed to remove the headlights and get the new projectors installed. Will work on the hid install over the next few days. One question though. The new projectors have two wires that trigger the flap for high beams. Do I just tap in to the existing high beams with those wires?

I feel so stupid. I bought the Sierra spec kit and added on the 200$ LED fogs and just got everything but after researching my HID bulbs are 6500k

And the fogs are 55000k

Why was this not in the information when I bought this kit? I assumed that if I order 6500k HID they would give me 6500k (color) fogs.

Now it won't match. -_-

Should I call retrofit source about this and tell them they need this infomation on the ordering page?

If you haven't opened the bulbs yet, you might could call and explain and see if they'd be willing to exchange the headlights. Their customer service is top notch.

This is why I always double check everything before ordering because it clearly says on the page for the fogs that they're 5500K (and doesn't give an option for anything different). Good luck!

Just spoke to the customer service and he said the fogs are a closer match to the 6500k in his opinion. So I'm going to try them out and if they aren't what I'm looking for I told him I'll be back in contact.

Also to the guy above talking about his 6500k being yellow. The rep said its not the ground, the bulbs need to be ran for 48 hours and they should work into they blue color.

I had my truck in for some service at the dealership and they gave me a 2016 model for a loaner. All I can say is "DAMN" do the stock headlights on the 2014/2015 suck in comparison ! The new headlights are awesome as far as clarity in front of you, but still lacking in "side lighting".

I have a set of 35W Morimoto HID's on order, does anyone know how they compare to the stock 2016 headlights ?

Sorry everyone, I am a little late to the party on this subject. I've got a 2015 Sierra 4x4 7z1 and like everyone else the headlights are lacking.

Is there anyway to just change the bulb, plug and play, that would increase the light? Also, might the Denali OEM headlights work as a replacement?

Sorry, just looking for a simple solution, nothing complicated.

You can jbtaylor replace it with putco nite lux led which is what I did and combine it with putco fogs.

It was okay but I have to say... The LED xb lights are amazing!!! Totally worth getting them in the Sierra spec kit. I love them! Good color and they match 6500k well. But I am having to send back the 9012 bulbs for H7 because I have anzo lights. Will post pics when everything is done.
