HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit

Recommended Posts

Yes they will. It is just that the 2.5 will be smaller that the 3 (obviously, lol) and you will have just a little space around the perimeter of the lenses. Not a big deal.

Great thanks, was hoping the 2.5"s would line up

I'd like to use my 55w bulbs and ballasts for awhile at least since I have them as they're new with that fxr kit, would the harness I'm using now for my 35w sierra spec kit work fine with them? I like the new xb ballasts much better that I'm running now than the old 5five ones that came with the fxr kit I have so I'll probably get some 35 d2s bulbs to run off those eventually, try them both out. Need the straight adapters too I guess do you have different bulb options and adapters available on their own?

Hey everyone just a quick question, I have a 2015 Silverado 2500, looking at a morimoto kit for my truck, I can only seem to get up to a 6500k bulb? Can I get an 8k from them? Also what's the best option I have for my fog lights? I seen in some of the walkers posts I seen a guy used some cool projectors for the fog lights?

Hey bud. 8k is not very bright. 6500k has a blue tone to it.

I ran the 55 (50w) in the 2015 Silverado 2500HD stock projectors with no issues.

Just replaced the stock projectors with FX-R projectors. Definitely a severe upgrade over stock. Now running 5500k Morimoto XB bulbs in the FX-R with the same 55w ballasts.

Crystal clear and very pretty cutoff, but I am having issues adjusting the cutoff where I like it. Once I get the cutoff right we will be in business.

Is there anything I could have done wrong with the install to cause them to point lower than stock or is that normal?

If its normal I am probably going to add washers to the front-bottom screw in between the headlight mount and the body of the truck to prop them up a little bit more. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I don't have a 2500 but I do have the 1500 I had to use washers to get my light to line up inside the headlight. It took me about 4 tries to get my lights set I still had to use the adjustment screw it went from people pulling over and flashing me to the random flash

Maybe one of you can help with my issue. I recently installed the TRS Sierra Spec kit on my 2014 GMC Sierra SLE. I can not seem to get the lights to function properly in the Auto position. If I put it on manual everything works perfect.

My issue is in the auto position the lights either come on and turn off almost instantly or they will flicker like crazy. The relays will also start making a buzzing noise. I have contacted TRS and they sent me a new capacitor link for the kit. I have installed that and the issue is still there. I don't know what to do at this point. I know this has to do with PWM and how the DRLs work on the SLE model, but I just can't figure out why the capacitor isn't fixing the issue.

Did you try rotating your capacitor plug? Posting and negative polarity reversal. Try it.

I tried that with the older capacitor link, and nothing changed. I will try that with new one. I have also sanded away all the paint for the ground wire on the capacitor link.

I want to get the Sierra Spec TRS kit for my 14 SLE aswell. Only thing that concerns me is the DRL'S on that model. Seems like it was causing TXSierra507 issues... (Hope you get it figured out!!)

--

Main concern beyond just getting them to function properly is what kind of additional ware & tear are the HID'S gonna take with the them also being the DRL's?

Probably just have to remember to manually turn them off every time I get in to drive...

Took some pics tonight showing the difference amongst setups. I used just one projector in the comparisons.

Factory 2015 GMC Sierra projector with 35 watt 5000k Morimoto HID setup

RX350 projector with STi clear lenses/tuned with 35 watt 5000k Morimoto HIDs. *FXR has same/similar performance

WOW! I have been on the fence about doing a projector swap for a while now, but this just makes me want to throw in the towel and go ahead with it. Just last night it seemed to me like my HID's weren't that bright anymore. Unfortunately I think its just my eyes used to the output and wanting more. It looks as if with the RX350 kit, you get much much more.

Is there any significant performance difference between the FXR and the RX350 kit? Is either of them better or both perform about the same?

Also if I went with the RX kit, do you sell just the projectors without the relay, HIDs, etc? I have HID's now, so I can just use those.

I was having the same concerns installing this kit on my SLE. Was having problems as well when I first installed. The DRL's would not come on when I was in gear and sometimes wouldn't turn on at night either. To fix the DRL issues all you need to do is switch the polarity in the capacitor. Once I did that everything has been working the way its supposed to. No complaints. Running the 35w 5500k.
