Huge disappointment in GM Customer Service

My Wifes 2008 Saturn Aura has developed a bad miss at 52,000 miles....the dealer diagnosed Spark Plug Wires and Spark Plugs....the dealer has come to the plate for me on other items in the past (small discounts here and there), I decided to see if GM would step up and assist on this. The Maintenance interval for Spark Plugs is 100,000 miles, as is "Inspect Spark Plug Wires"....the car has 52,000 miles, just over half of what I expected to be the life of these items.....do you think GM would offer assistance...NO...none at all....not a penny.....I was thinking, maybe split the cost....so, once again, the dealer helps with keep the cost down.....obvious owning 19 GM vehicles over the years carries no weight. GM needs to take into consideration customer dedication to GM....the Wife just pulled into the driveway with my '13 Silverado...she's not gonna like this.. :nopity:

Did you only ask the dealer, or GM directly? I ask, because "good will seems to be largely dependent on the service manager, rather than GM.

Maybe I should of talked to him first.....but I went to GM because he (Service Advisor, and Manager) has done their part in the past, and thought is was time for GM.....guess I was wrong......I talked to the Advisor, and they (dealer) are offering enough help that I won't need to take it to the local garage.....

I don't think he was trying to get it 100% covered but partly covered. I guess that if it is the wires that are the problem then it is more an issue of time vs miles. Either way, if scheduled tune ups are at 100k mi and I have only 50k and seem to need one I would wonder why. I had an out of warranty transmission problem on an 89 Astro - the dealer went to bat for me with GM and got them to cover 1/2 the cost of a replacement. I learned that there was no indication that I had done anything to cause the damage - which was usually caused by running the transmission hot - or low on fluid. I also learned that there are temp indicator dots on several of the clutch plates so they will know from their color if the transmission was ever over temp.

Did you contact customer service? Parents 2000 blazer went out of warranty by 1 month, only had 24K on it. 4wd encoder motor went out. The dealer said they couldnt help but told my dad to call customer service and explain the situation. After a 5min conversation they ended up picking up the tab for 50% of the labor and parts.

I would also ask what are the "hours" on the motor vs miles? I know that during my time in the DC area even though my daily drive was only 22 miles round trip, the total time to drive those 22 miles was 1.5 to 3 hrs daily. So even though the miles might be low the amount of time the motor has been running could be high. I hope all this makes sense.

you have to remember, some Dealers will bend over backwards to satisfy their customers, and some dealers will jump at every opportunity to screw their customers over. (luckily, Alexander Chevy falls into Column A because after I had My Little Runabout's transmission serviced, they actually called my house to see if I was satisfied with my service)

How much did that spark plug and wire set you back?

They want $385....local shop $195....rather use the dealer, but the recent back to the wall purchase of my '13 Silverado has stretched our budget too tight, and need to save where we can

So just so I am clear, you bought a vehicle with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, drove it for 5-6 years and but an additional 16,000 beyond warranty on it and are butt hurt that GM will not pay for maintenance on it? Seems like a legit bitch
