2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Noticed the other day that there was rubbery pieces on my driveway where I park my truck, had a closer look and it appeared to be flaking off my frame, and rusting badly where it has been flaking off. Took it to my dealer yesterday and they said the entire frame has to be sand blasted and re-coated. I'm assuming they will have to lift the body from the frame? How many squeaks and rattles am I going to have after that? Also does anyone notice when the transmission shifts, not under load, the engine revs up a bit as if the transmission is slipping, then it catches and engages the next gear? Under load it doesn't do it at all, shifts fast and catches good.

My carfax didn't reveal anything out of the ordinary. Took the truck in this morning for the 22 item punch list to be gone through. GM wants the dealership to fix the issues. Im documenting everything and will seek legal help if the issues are not resolved. Mentally, this is bothering the shit out of me and has caused me unnecessary stress.

Have '14 silverado .

First thing was ,two weeks after i got it, gmc issued 2 recalls , one for possible overheating and another one was as dealer told me fuel pump something >

Took it in right away , they reprogrammed the computer but didn't have some other part and send me back home with my "new " truck .

Tried going back few days after that as they said they would have that part in , still nothing , go back on the road >

OK.

Day after that on my way to work got message on the screen "engine power reduced "

I guess this is the message when fire in truck could happen due to that overheating recall.

stuck on the freeway , called dealer , they sent towing truck , asked them about loaner vehicle , they responded like "we dont know what the issue is and cant get you a loaner till we check it . even though they were already working on it and they knew exactly what it was .

Truck is in for 3 days , no loaner vehicle . At that time i had around 3000 miles on it .

Called GMC complaint center , opened the case , called BBB , opened the case with them too.

Dealer and GMC are calling every hour , trying to resolve the issue , offering 5 loaners now .

Anyway i got my truck fixed few days after that .

Two months after that my AC all of the sudden stopped working , took it in , bad compressor .

No loaner again .

I Told them about previous case . Loaner is there in 2 minutes .

Got it fixed 2 days after that .

Few weeks later started getting super bad smell out of air vents.

Took it in , they sent me back home saying that thats caused by bad incabin air filter and thats not covered by warranty.

Stopped by parts store trying to get new incabin filter ,well thats when i was informed that this truck is not equipped with air filter at all.

So , called them , havent taken it in yet , but looks like my story is to be continued >>

enjoy your new trucks ,, go gmc (((

what a joke

Sounds like you need to change dealerships. I've had lots of problems with my truck but my dealer has worked very hard to help everywhere they Can!

There is a cabin filter. I have already replaced mine. You have to remove 4 screws that hold in the lower glove box to get to it.

So yours is missing this?

Passenger Compartment Air Filter

The passenger compartment air filter removes dust, pollen, and other airborne irritants from outside air that is pulled into the vehicle.

The filter should be replaced as part of routine scheduled maintenance. Inspect the passenger compartment air filter every 36 000 km/

22,500 miles or two years, whichever comes first. Replace if necessary. More frequent

replacement may be needed if the vehicle is driven in areas with heavy traffic, areas with poor air quality,

or areas with high dust levels.

Replacement may also be needed if there is a reduction in air flow, excessive window fogging, or odors.

I am not sure I am posting in the right area but I think I am. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 that I got in January. I have had a few minor issues that I chalked up to break in period, but it now has 6500 miles and more little problems are cropping up. There was a whine/whistle coming from the back end, and the dealer said it was the muffler/exhaust, and that they had to order parts to fix it. I got the call that the parts were in, made my appointment, and then that night the turn signal failed, I've never owned a vehicle where a turn signal failed other then a bulb out. I called the next morning and they had me bring it right in, and asked me to think of any other issues. I have had bluetooth issues from day one, and a clunk in the back when changing gears. I am not happy that I am having any issues with a vehicle less then 5 months old. When I talked to them on Saturday they said they had most stuff fixed but what concerns me is that I was told the clunk, which is hard enough to feel, is 'normal' and nothing to worry about. They tried to tell me it was because I was new to having a truck and that is how they are. I asked friends and family that have trucks currently or have owned them and none of them have ever had a clunk or anything similar unless there was a problem with the drive shaft. Is a clunk that basically makes the back end shudder normal? I think they are trying to blow me off, since I told them I am upset that a new vehicle is having any issues, let alone issues like this.

Thanks,

Heidi

Thx Poltergeist !

I just ordered one

Hopefully this is gonna fix it .

I do have a question

My other trucks with running AC would have some condensate water dripping down under the truck

This one so far I have never seen any .

Could this be an issue I am dealing with ?

Maybe some plugged lines ?

Will change a filter and see what it does .

And yes part number is good

#22808781

Thanks!
