2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

I just receive a letter with a wiring harness in the mail...It states my truck has wiring provisions for an electric brake controller and the harnesses is part of the package but was not included with the truck .is this something that was supposed to be installed at the factory and is it incase I want to add a aftermarket controller?

It is for an aftermarket controller. When the truck was first sold they didnt have the harnesses available. They were having to alter past harnesses to make them work

I got the same thing this weekend. I think it's only a necessary wire if you want to install an electronic brake controller for trailer brakes. You should be fine to pull a trailer without brakes if you have a tow package. Edited by Silverado-Hareek

Several people are getting these. Here is a thread on it already. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/161289-did-gm-send-anyone-else-a-trailer-brake-wiring-harness-in-the-mail/page-2

Well after a week of debate/research, talking with the wife, driving my self crazy.. I bit the bullet and pulled off the Good Year LS2's (after the the vibration came back) amd put on some 305/50R20 Hancook Dynapro ATm's and holy cow... talk about smooth riding!!!! And evem more quiet than the Goodyears... should have never waited... they also make the rims/truck look way better... Guys I honestly think the Goodyears are just junk... so far it appears that my slight vibration/drone was solved by tires...

Was your vibration in the steering wheel or seats and at what speeds? Thanks!

It was a slight vibration could feel in steering wheel.. seat, and on accelerator, if you barely sat your foot on it... started at about 40 and would come with a slightly audible drone sound..

I second the dyna pro ATM, made my all terrain look sweet and rides nice. Low noise

Interesting. Maybe it is my tires after all. If you don't mind, can you read from post #1603 and on from the vibration thread (link below) to see if what I and another poster are describing in our steering wheels matches what you are feeling?

Yep, that is my mantra here. Why spend 45K +/- and drive around on oems? Unless my ride comes with Michelins (most sporty cars have such) I switch the week of purchase and get some buy back on the oems from Discount tire. Choose the tire you like or have experience with and switch. I prefer Michelins. The Goodyear's for sure are a less than a good riding tire and poor wet handling.

I think its tires. .. and honestly thr goodyears are cheapo tires anyways. . 139ish... you wont regret buying hancooks, nittos, or toyos even if it doesn't fix your problem.

Had the recall done for the cold weather idle fire done. My fuel milage went from a

Average 20.5 to 13 mpg in the next 500 miles same roads, same trips, same me every day. 2000 miles later its came back up to 13.7 MPG. The dealer said yep that’s what happens when you do recalls…..Now there is another recall on something with the trans, They won’t do anymore I can’t afford for it to go down 7 more mpg.

The recall with the trans is inspecting the lines going into the trans. If you crawl under your truck on the drivers side the trans lines go into it on the side. You can see if it's leaking there or not. Their is no recalibration with this recall like with the fire one. It took my dealer about 5 minutes to complete.
