2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Went through this + Driveshafts, different wheels all together, and a rear end, and shims.... Good luck. I drove 7 14's and they all feel exactly the same.. Some better than others but I've accepted that it's normal and GM will come out with a tsb to replace cab mounts like on the 2500's to dampen the vibration. I think the cab mounts are amplifying the vibration instead of dampening them IMO

This topic definitely intrigues me as I've suffered what I describe as a "wobble" or vibration in mine from the very beginning. It has become quite annoying and an embarrassment to have someone riding in my new truck that can also feel it. I had hesitated taking it back to the dealer at first but am now to the point where I get mad every time I drive the truck on a smooth road that allows me to feel it more pronounced. I also have multiple other warranty issues to have them address now, including the recall reprogramming.

Mine has the following issues:

  1. Drivetrain or Tire wobble/vibration.
  2. Factory fire recall.
  3. Factory power rear window recall.
  4. Blown front upper dash speaker. (rattles, pops, and distorts voices)
  5. Broken rear seatbelt upper plastic guide/cover. (broke the first time it was used)
  6. NAV/Radio will not switch back to the radio screen upon hanging up a Bluetooth phone call.
  7. NAV system often hangs in an endless search loop for very common city location searches.
  8. Driver's seat occasionally shifts when I sit in it, as if it has a loose bracket or hardware.
  9. Transmission seems to become confused as to what gear it wants to be in, and often when driving at part throttle (or coasting) when you engage the gas slightly it causes the whole rear end to shutter hard, and shakes the whole truck. Lots of drivetrain clunking noises related to this.
  10. Rubber seal around driver's rear door hangs out.
  11. Seat cushions collapse and wrinkle easily. I don't expect anything to be done about this, but it's clear the interior on this truck will look like it's 10 years old inside of 2 years or less. Very cheap materials used.
  12. Paint chips

Yep, all the things you'd expect from a brand new $50K truck, right...? I remain utterly frustrated with the overall low quality of this truck, and although there are many things I like about it, the initial negatives override any positives.

The vibration problems and rear end shuddder seem like the two worst issues you have.

Here is my rant, so far with my truck that has 3000 miles on it, I have had it in the shop for:

1. Vibration

2. Alignment

3. Extension piece that extends from dash to windwhield (speaker cover section was damaged)

4. Thermostat housing was leaking anti-freeze (4 days waiting for part)

5. A/C Compressor (3 days waiting for part) went out in Orlando with temps in the mids 90's and had to drive 400 miles with the windows down on the interstate. That sucked

All said it has been in the shop for 8 full days

General Motors is really testing my loyalty thats for sure but I love the truck just tired of the problems

As I was hand washing my truck today I noticed, what appear to be, two fingerprints on the rear sliding window. I tried to wipe them off with Windex, but no success. Could they be from factory installing rear window? Any suggestions on getting them off?

Back to the dealer for the 5th time !! :banghead: The graphite colored inside door panel trim piece right below the grab handle and window controls is busted. It looks like the clips are broke on the inside making the piece stick out. Chevy calls this a " Z71 special interior accent" . To me it looks like a cheap piece of plastic!!!!

Have this same problem with the whining noise and the 4wd . Dealer has no idea on why and said he has to call GM. I have only had this truck 4 months. I've owned many 4wd trucks and I know this isnt right. I just went through a nightmare with my last CHEVY lemon and I am not doing that again. GM was good about helping last time which is the only reason I purchased Chevy again. Although i still lost a boatload of money in repairs before the engine blew at 86k miles. I plan to have them put every last detail in writing and invoke my rights under NYS lemon law if this isnt fixed to my satisfaction.

So 4900 miles-

Driving with the annoying ticking noise, got 10 times worse. Got back on the freeway to drive my 1 1/2 hour trip , and pop went the engine. Check engine went on, turned on the limp mode. Pulled off freeway, turned off for a few minutes, turned back on check engine flashing, abs light on,and(not sure of the name) light that looks like your skidding came on and off continuously. Drive home, loud clunks and clanks and tapping coming from the engine, trans having hard time shifting, shaking me like a margarita! My first brand new truck, have always driven GM products, a little disappointed with it right now. Pay $40K for soemthing, you hope and wish 4 1/2 months in, major problems like this wouldn't happen.

Unfortunately, I'm coming here to discuss the issues with my crew cab. Purchase date 4/7/14

-four panels replaced behind rear seats a week after delivery because they were gouged.

-three out of four doors don't close flush with the cab, but a 15k cruze will.

-hair in DIC

-rattle by the sensor in dashboard

-entire dash rattles over barely rough roads

-rattle in passenger door

-huge gaps in both interior front doors where you can see into the inside of door

-non working led rings on hvac and radio

-center console has a material defect which can be seen when you get in.

-center console has a loud click when lifted up to get in the under storage.

-pitting or knicks in chrome front bumper. Sharp and snags cloth. Will rust.

-loose painted plastic valance above front bumper

-ripped insulation behind back seat

-carfax claims to have records on file

This is all under 1000 miles and 1 month. It's going to the dealer on Friday and I'm taking the service advisor for a ride down a rough road so he can hear the dash sound like it's coming apart. It's a reputable, local dealer who I've dealt with before and will make things right.I have been a loyal GM customer since 98 and am sick about it. I will not accept this vehicle. It will NEVER be factory fit and replacing the whole interior and other parts won't help. I'll keep you guys posted as to what the outcome is. Sounds like a lemon to me. I am putting together a detailed list with pictures. I took delivery at damn near closing, so it was hard to notice a lot of things. Being in QC, It's my job to find defects.

I would really like if I could get a double cab of same value for the lemon crew. At least it's not made in MEXICO. Wondering if my truck was a cocaine mule of some sort. It is summit white);^)

So I found out I had a rod break from the piston, so I was running on 1 less, and Chevy only wants to replace the head, I asked how they were going to get out all/any metal, they said their shouldn't be much, this is what Chevy told us to do. REALLY, no metal, if a piece of metal shatters in a chamber where does it go? He had no answer for me.

Sorry your truck is bad. But Really! Just joking? The Mex GM trucks are not good because they are assembled in Mex? Really? And on what does one base such a claim? Have folks with such claims ever been to a GM plant in Mexico...?
