2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Hillbilly fixes. I think its a smart fix and I myself have done it for years. My Audi had this but it was made from foam, I guess that makes it von hillbilly. Sounds to me that you should have done a little more research before you bought a 50K poorly designed item.

Thanks for showing your solution, but I didn't buy a $50k truck so that I could apply hillbilly fixes to manufacturer design flaws. Same reason I wouldn't put duct tape over the seal gap on the rood satellite antenna to prevent the leaks that have been reported in this thread.

I'm all for innovation, but in this case I would've expected GM to actually do some real world testing to determine the need for a better design.

It works and it doesn't really show. GM invested a lot to give the occupants a quiet interior, yet they overlook something simple that would cost virtually nothing.......somebody's not using their 'noggin.

Did you'll see the recent recall issued by GM on the Cobalt ignition problem that they knew of back in 2004, five people died. Look it up, its a good story. The lawsuit shows that a TSB was later put out to replace the part "only" if a customer would complain. That says a lot about a company. Please look it up and read it.

Hmm I just tried mine put the tilt all the way up and the gearshift does actually slightly rub the key but does not hit it enough to make it turn and shut the truck down. I wonder if they have already made a key width change? My key does seem to be smaller than a lot of other vehicles including my 09 Sierra. My build date is 12-11-13. I am attaching a picture of my key, it is laying on top of the remote key fob in the picture so you can kinda judge the width better. So is your key wider than this one steve1234???? what about anyone else out there in internet land with a early build 2014 is your key wider or not?

My Key appears to be the same size as yours, not sure of the build date of my truck but I purchased it Dec 16, 2013. I habbitually put the tilt all the way up before exiting a vehicle and if I am just moving a short distance or hooking up a trailer or something I just jump in and move it with out positioning the tilt. If I only partially move the shifter back I am able to move the shifter without hitting the key enough to shut the truck off, but pulling the shifter all the way shuts the truck off every time.

I used a small section of Velcro stick on to stop the key/fob banging noise on my 09. Showed salesman and service mgr. and they did the same.

On the bright side, I just saw a friend of mine that went from an '11 to a '14 Loaded SLT CC. Seats, sun roof, nav you name it. Has been driving it for six months, 8,000 miles. Says much better than the SLT '11 AND not ONE issue to date, except for fix on slider that was working but dealer fixed anyway. That gives hope that those with issues will not have more and hope for those without current issues.

Regarding the key fob banging issue, it would also be easily solved if GM would adopt the technology used by Mercedes and passed along to Dodge/Chrysler by them. My previous '05 Mercedes used an infra-red key that had the door lock/unlock and alarm buttons built into the key itself. And because It was an infra-red key it made theft a much more difficult task. It's all one unit smaller than the size of our current key fob and therefore doesn't have anything dangling. You insert the infra-red unit into an ignition slot and viola', problem solved.
I still don't understand why GM doesn't allow for the keyless ignition in the trucks since they offer it in the Corvette and some other models.

It's such an easy fix from a design standpoint and it's not like this is some groundbreaking new technology that would have significant cost associated with it.

I did the Hillbilly fix the first week I had it.. I also put this thin carpet in the bottom door panels, cup holders.. anywhere there can be a rattle..

I didn't think it would look that bad, BUT boy was I wrong.

Are you speaking of the accelerator pedal?

No. I'm talking about the little hump in the floor where you rest your left foot. Most cars nowadays have a "dead" pedal there. Prior to this year's truck your left foot just dangled.

Copy that. I just have this feeling that I need to assert more pressure than what I normally would have to accelerate down the road. Maybe a short distance in the movement of the pedal is like a dead area and them boom she goes. It may be just me but my 2013 was not like this.

I believe the throttle has a 0.5 second delay to allow for the gear train to "tighten up". I was also was told when at a stop, the throttle delay goes to 0.7 seconds to allow for the transmission to get to the proper gear. Custom tuners can program this out, however quite expensive..

Has any felt vibrations while stopped at a red light?

Because if your question, I decided to register here. I have the same problem on my 08, its alot more noticeable when the truck is cold and when you give it alittle gas. I think I narrowed it down to either the engine mount or the transmission mount.
