2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

This is another reason why I will never buy a GM product ever again. That along with terrible customer service. I got rid of my truck a week ago and couldn't be happier. Good riddance Chevrolet. I'm out.

I'm really thinking about getting rid of mine as well. I can't believe the customer service, but that's the least of my worries tho. This " new" $50,000 truck is worst than my 84 el camino! Starter sounds like it will never crank over. The heated seats and ventilated seats that work with remote start is a joke and a huge lie! Gas mileage is a lie, seat continues to break! And the dealer tells me it's the leather that's making the noise. I'm not f*****g stupid and don't insult me with that bullshit excuse. Soon as I get a call back from GM ima tell them I want all my money back.

Good luck with that!

My new 2014 Silverado LT Crew Cab wouldn't start on Sunday. First crank didn't start and second it cranked and cranked before starting. It wasn't low on fuel but only had a fourth of a tank. It wasn't cold on Sunday but has been past couple days and it hasn't had a problem starting but I did fill it with fuel. Wonder if fuel pump was struggling on Sunday. I called dealership to let them know my less than a week old truck wouldn't start the other day. Other than that the only problem I have been having is the 8" display screen running very slow. It takes forever to do anything. You click on something and it takes forever to change stations or do anything. Fancy isn't always better. They added all kinds of "stuff" now you have to wait just to tune to another radio station.

Not just the lights on the radio. I had about nine different problems. The seats were top on my list. The constant movement was enough to drive anyone crazy. Electrical components not working properly, back sliding window motor broke, irregular rpm's and drive train slamming; the list goes on. The light issue and GM refusal to fix it is indicative of shoddy craftsmanship American car makers are known for. Way to live up to your reputation GM.

Moderators: Any way to stop this thread and set up some pinned threads like:

Seat Movement Issues

Radio/HVAC LED issues

Vibration Issues

and others as determined. This thread is getting way too long and is discussing several different issues. I think the GM reps who monitor this might be able to respond a little better. Just a suggestion.

I am very disappointed in the LED issue. Not so much about the LEDs themselves but by GM advertising their products with features that they have no intention of shipping their product with. I changed dealerships and the new dealer is trying very hard to help but they are only allowed to do what GM allows them to do. My larger problem is that I have other issues that make me feel that the truck just isn't reliable. If this doesn't improve then I will be forced to get rid of the truck and look for something else. I've owned GM products for years, as an individual and for our company but this attitude of not supporting their customers may drive me away from their products. But they obviously don't really care, do they?

Just got out of 2010 f150 because I wasn't pleased with the service I was getting and some reliability issues with the vehicle. This is my first chev and hope this is not a sign of things to come. Led and fm reception are an issue for me right now.

You guys complaining over the LEDs need to get over it. GM reserves the right to modify and change the configurations at any time - it's all over the fine print in their advertising. Read it. At the very most, GM would have to refund customers the $0.25 for the missing resistors if they were liable. This is no different than the removed sliding rear window issue - GM refunded the $250 for the removed parts.

That being said, I don't think this was intentional on GM's part, but a quality/workmanship issue. GM (and/or their supplier) made a goof. GM just doesn't have the responsibility to fix it. You accepted the truck as is when you bought it. LED backlit knobs are not listed on your build sheet as a feature or option, so they can claim that they were never intended to be included.

GM has much bigger problems to worry about.

I'm glad a lot of people in the lower 48 states are not having starting issues with their new 2014's. The weather you folks have been having is a good test. I was worried that this was going to be a major issue.

Yesterday my dealer told me that the parts had shipped to repair my 2014. It seems they had to go back to the assembly line to get those parts. The truck has been with the dealer for nearly 2 weeks. It has less than 800 miles on it. The dealer rented a Yukon for me to drive. Believe me when I say it doesn't compare to my new red beauty. As others have said- these are great riding and driving trucks. I'm looking forward to putting it on the highway again.

Us guys complaining about no LEDs just need to get over it is bullshit. When you view the truck in the brochure guess what the lights are working. Why do all of the Sierra truck led lights work?. If they were not in the brochure you would have no complaint from me. As far as I'm concerned this is false advertising. My wifes vehicle is a Kia which we have had very few problems with but when we did their service was impeccable and the problems got fixed. I have mostly owned overseas vehicles in my 48yrs of life and they were always very good to me and the service was excellent, reliability outstanding. This is my first GM product and maybe my last with a response saying they won't do anything about it. This isn't building any confidence or loyalty by treating customers this way. By the way Toyota will be releasing their newly designed Tundra and I bet they would fix this problem if they had it in their new truck. The reason I say this is because I have owned Toyota's in the past and they stand behind their products. Don't get me wrong I really do like my Silverado but I value a company that stands behind their products more than just a good looking truck. So for the sake of fairness I will wait to hear an official written response from GM on this issue or a post from someone at GM on this forum. If they really won't do anything about it I will evaluate my options up to and including a petition, legal counsel, or maybe just a lost customer in the future.
