2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

my only complaint about the truck is the stock wiper blades. They are flat out useless, I needed to pull over 3 times last night to knock off the built up ice. This morning I made sure the blades were clean. The first time I washed the window, big streaks and spots were completely missed by the blades. Maybe I should look at my state's lemon law, LOL. I hope after market blades are available.

I'm wondering if something changed in recent builds. I didn't read this thread at all and was using mine thinking "maybe I will go out of my way and buy the factory wipers from here on out since these things work so great (comparing to aftermarkets on lexus and tahoe I have) they are fantastic. However our Arkansas weather isn't all that freezing compared to some of the negative temps I've seen on here (coldest I experienced so far was 22 but when I was using them heavily the other day it was 35. Go find me 100% perfect vehicle then we can talk...

And yes, I'm extremely happy with my 95% perfect GMC. I have a paint inperfection spot on my driver side rear door & crappy windshield wipers. I can deal with it and I have extreme OCD...

The question is not if one can find a 100% perfect vehicle.

Congrats that you're happy to get only a part of what you've paid for.

And just assuming that one truck cost in average 40 grands that means (at 5%) to spend 2 grand for nothing.

And congrats to GM to make additional 2 grand on each truck just because...

My wiper blades are working fine. I have always found stock blades on any vehicle are no where near as good as after market. Try a set of Rain X winter blades they perform very well in bad weather. As for the led lights well if they are advertised on the brochures then they should work. I test drove the gmc sierra and they worked albeit they were red but they worked. Funny they don't work on my Silverado and its kinda annoying but I can wait for the fix. I just wanna hear that they will do something about it. Simple solution is to address it and fix it. Pretty simple in my opinion. The company I work for would be all over a problem like this and would have fixed it right away. That's what you call good old fashioned customer service. It really is more about building and maintaining a good relationship with your clientele. Good service means customer loyalty and retention.

To start, I'm very happy with my truck, 2014 GMC SLE Double Cab.

However, I did have one issue with the truck. Within the first month, and less then a 1000 miles, I noticed that the bottom of the tailgate was rubbing on a couple of the ribs of the bed floor. It was noticed by the powder residue lines left on the tailgate. Reported it to the dealer, and they took care of the issue. They provided me with a loaner, a 2014 crew cab 4x4 SL and it had less mileage then mine. To realign the tailgate, lower brackets had to be moved. Problem is, the brackets are aligned before the truck is painted, so to realign the tailgate, this required repainting of the tailgate jams. And the tailgate was repainted as well.

So basically, I'm not here to complain, but to inform. Since I suspect the tailgate and brackets are installed and aligned using robotics, I suspect there maybe others out there with the same issue.

Now for a couple of suggestions for GM....

1. Storage behind or under the rear seat. The rear seat does not fold forward, and currently no one offers an under seat storage for the Double Cab. I have no where to store stuff like jumper cables, long ice scraper, tow straps, etc.

2. Someone mentioned this earlier also. When using the hands free calling, after making an out bound call, the screen does not return to the audio screen automatically. However, I have noticed, after an incoming call, the screen returns to the audio screen automatically.

The above suggestions are not deal breakers, and I'm sure an under seat storage will become available. As for the paint issue, yes it's unfortunate, and would rather not of had any issues. However, previously having a very similar job as Jennifer (years ago for GMC), I have seen both ends of the spectrum, customers with valid vehicle issues, as well as my share of unrealistic customers.

Oh, and lastly, this is my first GM vehicle. Leased it, planning to purchase. Good thing I didn't buy it, I'll probably upgrade, I already miss the crew cab, and the more I see them, I'm liking the All-Terrain look with less chrome,

So overall, I'm currently happy with the truck. It rides and drives great. Now, just waiting for spring time, to see how it tows the race car (open trailer).

Sorry for book.

Mike.

I take it that you are ok with your truck being only 95% perfect?

Did you pay 95%?

Or did you pay 100%?

Well no I didn't pay 100% of my truck. Considering the sticker price is what GM is asking for their product none of us should be paying that. If you did your a complete moron! Did you pay the sticker price for your truck? If not you didn't pay 100% for your truck either. Edited by Blue Sierra Owner

Used to be when you took in the "internet price" you actually saved some cash. Now the makers work the discount into the window sticker by artificially raising costs,so while you still save off that you still pay what they wanted in the first place. My dealer tried to pull a major fast one on me. Took in the price for a truck he had on the lot. Truck was just sold, said he could get me another one locally. Made a few phone calls and said the same one was about 30 miles away and it was mine,"done deal". Put down a grand did some paper work and walked out ,wow new truck. Three days later I called ,where is the truck,I'm so sorry that truck was sold. ( I thought so, I drove to the other dealer that afternoon, and it was in the sold section of the lot,but thought it was my deal.) Now the dealer says he can get me the truck,,,, but it's gonna be $2000 more because of a price increase on the new builds. I started throwing around Fraud and Text book bait and switch terms and the fact that he took my money knowing full and well the truck was sold when he took my money. his response was "well some times deals fall through." After some more complaining he left, came back and said yes he would have to honor the deal because he had taken my money. They found me another truck 30 miles the other way. When picking up the truck a couple of days later I noticed there were a couple of small things different than the truck I thought I was getting,so I said you have to give me the $300 difference. I thought the guy was going to explode,"I'm already eating the price increase and now you want more off"? I said yes, I'm holding the window sticker and the price is different. He says that is the old sticker, this is the new one in his folder. I said this is the one in the window, this is the price we will work with. Then he says I wasn't supposed to see that one. I told him we took a picture of it at the other dealer so he couldn't pull another fast one. He finally told the money guy to give me the $300 Says I'm losing so much on this truck as it is and stormed out. They made $7,000 on the truck I took in. What a bunch of crooks. I will not go back, will take truck for service to one of 2 dealers that are closer.

I've only got ~235 miles on my first tank of fuel, and I'm almost on EMPTY. Definitely not getting the advertised mileage. I think GM owes me a new truck!! lol

You know, since I paid them over $40k, the least they could do would be to give me free fill-ups for life, right?? lol

Yes, I was in business for quite a while (now retired). It was a small successful business because we cared about our customers and their view of our service. if I addressed problems like the LED thing like Chevrolet is doing, I would not have lasted a year up here. Some of these problems may be seen as minor for some but they are features advertised by Chevrolet which now do not work.

I see some trying very hard to belittle some who have commented on issues with their truck. It appears to me to be a possible case of GM or Chevrolet making sure there are commenters there in an attempt to discredit posts. How many of you work for, or used to work for GM?

When people make comments of "My gosh, it's a little light around the radio, not a big deal" I assume they are saying that it's nothing to panic about and make a big fuss about as a solution to it will come soon but no need getting all ruffled up over such a minor thing that doesn't affect the performance or experience of your truck. I would think that there will be a fix for the LED issue soon, but because it's such a new product they don't have an instant answer. I didn't take it as they were just blowing people off and never planning to fix it.

Imagine if Apple showed a phone with a flashing led and when it hit the floor there was nothing. This " nonsense " would be on every newspaper, news channel and forum. Stock would go down and so fourth. Chevy does this and look. Either no one knows what were talking about or we gotta pay for a upgrade or some bull***t excuse. When they asked me to put a down pymnts I didn't give anyone any excuses so why should I get them in return?

Every launch there's an issue. I am an AASP, that is what I do.

New retina MBPs have a small curtain effect on some displays. How about the old iphone antenna issue "hold it better" is what they say. People got over it, a solution came around.
