2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Come on guys you are chilling the thread. One can also argue that a lot of people with problems do not come to a forum or this one.

We just do not know the extent of some of these issues. Go to the service mgr. of a high volume dealer and ask about problems. Most likely you will get no major issues for an answer. So this thread is helpful. if nothing else what to look for on a test drive.

Like the vibration. I have tested two '14s. One was ok and one hard a bad vibration that felt like flat spot tires but did not clear up on the drive.

This is a thread about problems and solutions. If folks want to decided to wait on a purchase that is OK.

There has not been half a million sold. The Mexico plant only did about 154,000 trucks total last year. GM sells about 600,000 or so a year. A full yr. production of '14s will be end of March or so.

Hello i just bought a 2014 Silverado two weeks ago. I just stated to having issues with the four-wheel drive. Every time its in auto or 4wd it makes a off and on buzzing/humming noise when u give it gas or let off it has nothing to do with it engaging or disengaging and only does it when its in auto or 4wd. the sound is almost like its electrical interference coming from the top of the dash on the drivers side it kinda sounds like the noise a computer hard drive makes. I took it to the dealership and had three different people look at it they could not hear anything so i let it go. The next day i gave my friend a ride in it not saying anything about the issues he hears it right away so i go back to the dealership and told them this so they let me test drive another truck and its making the same noise. So i am wondering if anyone else has had this issues i have owned many chevy trucks and know the normal noise they make in 4wd but have never heard this before when you are driving 30-50 miles a day its kinda is annoying and they have no solution for it

Bought my 2014 a couple weeks ago, luv this truck, but am having the same issue. Were you ever able to get a resolution from Chevy?

Hey emoerman,

I'm glad to hear you're loving your Chevy! I'm bummed to hear that you are experiencing an issue while using 4WD. Have you reached out to your dealership yet? I would be happy to help in getting this concern addressed. If you would like any assistance please private message me your full name, contact information, VIN, current mileage, and involved dealership.

Sincerely,

Jonathan A.

I just purchased a 2014 silverado 5.3l short box with the 3.08 gears current mileage 554km. The first thing I told the dealer before I bought it was to add a 2nd set of winter tires to the deal as we sometimes get some real heavy snow on the west coast of British Columbia. The dealer thru in a set of 18in Hancook winter tires. I took the truck for a drive with the new tires and have run it up to 100 mph with no vibrations or shake what so ever. It really is the smoothest truck I have ever owned. Now if they could fix the light rings around my radio and fan knobs I would be super happy. It's really annoying when driving at night because I have to take a second to look for the knobs as the lights would define exactly where the knob is located. Also note I haven't tried the truck with the original good year tires that will have to wait til spring. So far I really like this truck and it gets better gas mileage than my 2011 ford ranger that I traded in.

You can probably find several posts about the missing LEDs on the three knobs. Although Chevy is advertising the lighted rings, they do not work. Chevrolet has offered the following to me: I take the truck to the dealer who confirms the existence or absence of the LEDs. If they are there they will make them work at their expense. If the LEDs are not behind the knobs, they I have to pay the labor to check. I changed dealerships and the new dealer is going to check for the LEDs. Another post has the exact fix to get the LEDs working. The poster indicated that there is a resistor missing on the circuit board and, once repaired, the LEDs work. I'll update when/if I find out on mine.

Other that that, there are some things I really like on this truck and other thing I would have preferred to stay the same as my previous Silverado.

I'm curious to find out what they say when they find the LED's are there but not the resistor. I haven't torn apart my dash to fix this myself because I think GM should fix it. Please keep us updated.

I guess maybe I'm cut from a different cloth. If I had paid for or there was something on the sticker for the insignificant light rings around the knobs, I'd be pi$$ed. For example, on my sticker if it stated: Led ring lighting on stereo knobs (included). I realize they have a picture in all their advertisements and are now building the Silverado with them, I have a hard time understanding everyone's angst. It's a damn light for god sake!

Off of soap box.

I believe what's right is right. If you and I both purchased the same truck and yours has a cup holder then mine better have a cupholder. These trucks aren't cheap and I work hard for my money (slight exaggeration, haha).

I agree with you but you had better put your flame suit on because when the natives see this they're gonna go bonkers...

my only complaint about the truck is the stock wiper blades. They are flat out useless, I needed to pull over 3 times last night to knock off the built up ice. This morning I made sure the blades were clean. The first time I washed the window, big streaks and spots were completely missed by the blades. Maybe I should look at my state's lemon law, LOL. I hope after market blades are available.

Ok, if I have to have any complaints; it would be the windshield wipers. They leave massive streaks and do not work very well....
