2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Ticking noise is the injectors... Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

The engine has direct injection fuel system. It's normal and sure beats the piston slap of my 2000 Silverado.

Update: After taking my truck back to the dealer Monday 12/09/13 for a vibration issue, they failed to correct the problem by rebalancing 3 of the 4 wheels. I was told by the dealer that they used a traditional balancer.

As many of you suggested, I am now sitting in the waiting room of a reputable family owned tire place in the town where I live. They only use the road force balancer for all of their balancing. After them taking the truck into the garage for 10 minutes, the tech came out to let me know how it was going. I told him the wheels were already rebalanced once from the dealership. The tech said that he can see that new weights were added to the wheels but the old weights were never removed. He felt confident that I would be good to go after he removes all the weights and rebalances. He is also throwing the truck on the lift to check the driveshaft. Said they recently found a dodge with a bent factory shaft with only 1000 miles.

I will update once im done at the tire shop...

There should only be one set of weights on each side of the wheel (basically one weight on the inside and one on the outside). Anything else is either laziness or not knowing what you're doing. Anytime you rebalance all the weights should come off the wheel...

Update: The tech rebalanced the wheels removing all weights that the dealer put on. He took it up to 60MPH with no vibrations present. He said he actually had to flip (1) tire on the rim to use the least amount of weight necessary as the Road Force machine indicated. I took the truck, drove it around town and it did indeed ride better than ever! Smooth as glass!! I took it up on the highway, hit 70+MPH and the vibration is still there, though noteably not as bad. Before the truck felt like it had a left to right shimmy where if you put your head on the headrest, your eyes were unable to focus on the road. That left to right motion has subsided for the most part however the vibrations are still there and seem to now disappear around 80MPH. Thinking that maybe it was the road, I tried (3) different highways in the area with the same results on each. So to recap, the wheels were balanced on (2) different types of machines, on (2) different days by (2) different places, one of which is a very reputable family owned tire shop. I am starting to think its either the tires themself or something totally different. The reason I bought this new truck was because my old one was starting to get up there in mileage and eventually it would need some work, but hell it had over 85,000 miles on it so thats expected!

So another call to GM to update them on what was found once this independant shop balanced my wheels. They politely told me my case, though opened yesterday 12/11/2013 was closed. I asked how is the case "closed" and what was the outcome? I told the GM rep that I was never contacted by them nor did I contact GM to let them know that the vehicle was fixed so how could the case be closed? The GM rep told me that it wasn't his case, however he would re-open it and have the rep (who's name and extension I won't post here) contact me once she gets back in the office.

GM if you are reading this, can you kindly locate my old truck that I traded in, give it back to me and I will gladly give this Silverado back to you! No really i'm not kidding!!! What did I get myself into?

I have been following the release of this redesigned truck from day one (2011ish?). I remember looking everyday for spy photos hoping for new ones to post.

When they announced the official unveiling last year, I was stoked! I saw it and immediately knew I wanted this truck. I have an '08 with 50,000 on the clock

that has been the best truck I ever owned. I know that the '14 is a good truck and better in almost every way than my current one but hearing these stories,

I think I should sit tight for a while. Man, I wish you all the best in getting these issues resolved, it has to be frustrating.

For the 100th time... the 2014 doesn't have anymore issues than any other truck. 90% of folks use these forums to research and complain about their issues....and that's fine. But it's important to remember that we make up a VERY small sample of all 2014 truck owners.

You have to put it in perspective... GM is rolling out (i'm guessing) 500+ of these trucks per day since the spring time ? That's a lot of damn trucks over the past 9 months.. just sayin..

Read the Ford and Dodge forum... they all have their issues and bitch all the time too... just different issues..

Totally agree with you as this is the norm for online discussion forums especially for auto's. I understand that some are having issues with their new 40K+ truck. Look at the last several topics, the majority start off with issues with their truck.

The majority of people aren't going to search for a forum to praise their truck. Their more apt to research issues and see if there are others who are experiencing the same along with a possible fix.

I have 6500 miles on my truck, only issue so far is leaking shocks ( Not GMs Fault).

I agree with you totally, except my shocks are not leaking. But this is just like any other forum I have been on, lot of complaints. When I was on the Ford 150 Forum a few years ago I was one of the complainers. Got tired of complaining and traded the only Ford truck that I have ever owned in for another Silverado. No complaints since, lol.

As you'll probably hear from someone, it's mostly the people with legitimate problems and the chronic whiners who are going to post on the board- people without problems don't have much to say!

I'll throw in my two cents and say that so far my vehicle has been absolutely perfect, and has not suffered from any of the problems posted on the boards.

Keep in mind that GM has sold several hundred thousand 2014 trucks already- if they were truly lemons or poorly manufactured trucks, there would be thousands of complaints on these boards.

Many of the trucks that do have issues have been early production trucks, and we've seen that many problems have been quickly addressed in production as suppliers and GM make the small changes necessary to perfect any complex product.

I agree, very well spoken. One of my trucks was built in Aug. and the other in Oct. The best trucks on the market as far as I am concerned.

+1... my exact point. There are like 100 of us on here? ... and likely over a half a million of these 2014's on the road already. We are a VERY VERY small sample. New buyers shouldn't be scared. If you are... go read the other forums at ford and dodge, etc..
