2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

My Silverado is sometimes slow to start. It acts very different than the 07 I had, which turned over very easily. Also, on two occasions remote start has failed to start the truck. The solution is to go outside, start the truck, turn it off, then the remote start will work. That is what GM says to do if remote start doesn't work properly!

I've been told that these starting issues were not apparent in previous models?

Hey SPC,

I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced issues with your remote start. If this is something you would like us to look into further for you feel free to PM us your name, contact information, VIN, current mileage, and involved dealer.

Sincerely,

I just bought a new 2014 4x4 5.3L yesterday and its now sitting at the dealer while I drive 3 hours back home. I made it about 3 miles off the lot when the engine started shuddering, shaking the entire vehicle with the engine. light flashing. This only happened when accelerating up an incline. Took it back and made the dealer drive it and he said it was an issue. This was yesterday so his mechanic was out. Never had anything like this happen so you can imagine the pit in my stomach right now. The truck only had 21 miles on it.

My brother bought the same truck 3 weeks ago and his has been problem free.

Lastly, while I understand somes concern here, I have to laugh at some of the issues being complanied about. Holes in black carpet? Really? Try to focus on the positives guys. Nothing will be ever be perfect. I just paid 40k for a truck and wasnt even able to drive it home. Hopefully this is a simple fix. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have had my 2014 Sierra for a couple months and have about 1 000 miles on it. I find the steering very stiff and hard to turn. I also find that when driving down the highway I am really driving this thing. I am constantly moving steering wheel to keep it going straight. I had it back to the dealer for a wheel alignment because it was pulling to the left and to check way steering was stiff. They also said they made some changes on trucks computor which should make it steer easier. It seemed okay for a couple days but now no better. I am hoping this is not the way it is suppose to drive. It is not fun to drive. My last two GMs were 2000 and 2007 silverados and they were great

I don't care how small the imperfections. .the money spent on trucks now and days is the same as a house.. I expect issues to be resolved! I spent nearly 50k tax title registration I can buy a 2 or 3 bedroom manufactured home for that!

I think everybody has his own sensibility when it comes to money.

And yes there must be a reason why no 2014 GM truck made it to the 'truck of the year'.

so long

I forgot to mention in my previos post in regards to steering issues, that I also have a strong anti-freeze smell when I turn on the heater. Dealer says GM want me to drive it for a couple more weeks and smell should go away. They feel that it is just smells from new adhesives etc etc. Well this aint my first new vehicle and none have smelled like this. Its not there all the time. Just when I first start the truck or if I turn up the temperature. They did do a pressure test on system for a couple hrs and no drop in pressue. Coolant level had not dropped and no sticky anti freeze residue on windshield. I am sure its the heater core. I had many of them go in my old vehicles and know that smell. We shall wait and see. I am also not trying to bad mouth the vehicle. Just responding to the Post. I think the truck is great and keeping my fingers crossed they can resolve these issues

Oh it happened on a saturday at 1230. . Dealer could6nt help.. (didnt know it was a spark plug wire then) so I popped the hood found it and put it back on...

GMs service I've found in most cases is less than stellar....

That's good to hear! How long did that take to fix? Has the issue recurred since? Thanks for the feedback 2hicks.

Hello i just bought a 2014 Silverado two weeks ago. I just stated to having issues with the four-wheel drive. Every time its in auto or 4wd it makes a off and on buzzing/humming noise when u give it gas or let off it has nothing to do with it engaging or disengaging and only does it when its in auto or 4wd. the sound is almost like its electrical interference coming from the top of the dash on the drivers side it kinda sounds like the noise a computer hard drive makes. I took it to the dealership and had three different people look at it they could not hear anything so i let it go. The next day i gave my friend a ride in it not saying anything about the issues he hears it right away so i go back to the dealership and told them this so they let me test drive another truck and its making the same noise. So i am wondering if anyone else has had this issues i have owned many chevy trucks and know the normal noise they make in 4wd but have never heard this before when you are driving 30-50 miles a day its kinda is annoying and they have no solution for it

Hey jess_nd,

I understand your concern over the noise you are experiencing with your new truck. If you would like me to look into your situation further, feel free to PM me your full name and contact information, VIN, current mileage, and involved dealership. I look forward to your reply.

To follow-up, the issue was being caused by a loose wire on cylinder 4, as some others have experienced. Hopefully this is the only issue I'll have with the Silverado, it's a great truck and I'm really looking forward to spending some time in it!

Glad you got fixed. 2happychicks was spot on with his diagnosis.

Haven't had any issues yet that I know of everything seems to work. One thing I have noticed is the "real" aluminum on the steering wheel gets pretty hot in a parking lot and take a while to cool off.

If you think that's bad, consider this one:

I test drove a new Ford Mustang GT with a 6 speed manual transmission. The shifter knob was a solid aluminum ball and it got so hot in Florida summer heat that I burned my hand when I first touched it. It was still hot when I came back from the test drive. What a stupid idea to use a solid metal shifter knob! Especially when you have to shift all gears all the time.

I bought a z71 2014 fully loaded. Since then ( a month ago) my driver seat has been broken ( bottom part) and they can't fix it cause theirs no parts. My headlights fog up when it rains as if they were those cheap aftermarket ones. My alignment is off and they can't fix it cause theirs no specs for that. Three knobs in the center console don't light up ( the inner ring) as shown on every picture and other truck. I didn't get my floor mats for two weeks. And now the air conditioner is started to act up. It blows super fast when it's on low unless I hit the inner circulate button twice. GM, you guys gotta get this problems fixed or give me a new truck!

What you mean they do not have alignment specs?
