2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

I also have a 8" indent on the front driver side fender. The entire fender has been put on incorrectly. Its wedged over the the headlight and not even close to the A piller. $41K truck should not have these problems, and if they do they should fix them, especially a dent. So im dropping mine off today to see what they say.

Why did you even sign the papers with it looking this way. I'm sorry but that's something you should have noticed and made them fix before took delivery...

Are you really sorry, are you not gonna let me go and get my truck fixed now? It was raining when I purchased the truck. And by the time we signed all the papers it was dark.

Thanks for the constructive response!

Id have to agree give the guy a break. But I would also agree once you take delivery and leave, dents and such is that the dealer or manufactures fault. How does anybody know what happened after it left. I find it hard to beleive a dealer would let some dent and big misallingment on a panel leave the grounds. Sounds to me like somebody hit your truck and thats what the dealer is going to say.

Some things you don't notice in an instant. Its a brand new truck, why would you expect there to be dents or fenders misaligned. Do you really think i would have bought the truck if i had noticed this. Do you really think that I wanna waste my time driving back to the dealer, waiting for my truck to be repaired? Your comment is more of an insult to my intelligence then anything. The dealer was notified within 14 hrs of my findings. They better not try to pull the "it wasn't like that when you bought it" bull crap.

These issues don't sound like manufacturer issues to me. Hopefully the dealer will stand behind your purchase and do what is necessary to win you over. I hate it when I pickup a new vehicle and it is raining or dark. I always try and get them to have it indoors so I can look at it but even with that fore thought it doesn't work out very often. I hope to take receipt of a new truck tomorrow and thankfully no rain planned... maybe some snow. :)

Good luck and let us know how you get along.

I got lucky. I wanted a white 6.2L crew cab with a sunroof and the local dealer found one 200km away. So I got an LTZ with sunroof and nav for about 12k off the sticker. I couldn't pass that up.

That sounds like a great deal.

For those who paid over $40K for a truck some of us have an expectation of quality in the fit & finish of a vehicle. When a $13K Kia can get it right why can't GM? If the radio knobs is the only issue you have with your vehicle consider yourself lucky. Many people have more problems than just the knobs. When you add this on top of current problems it becomes more apparent and indicative of the poor quality control and incompetence.

I'd agree. Also, if someone believes the knobs are not worthy of interest, just look at all the advertising GM did using the pics of the interior including the knobs. They must have spent millions, and now they claim the knobs shouldn't be an issue!

If it was hit after it left the dealership, wouldn't there be scratches and paint scrapes where the dent is?

Just saying once you sign the papers and pull off the lot all bets are off. I would have asked them to pull it inside so I could look over (I did this with last car). These things get wrecked a lot during delivery getting pulled on and off the trailers and trains and stuff and the snot nosed brat doing the detail on the truck before you pick it up isn't going to care enough to tell someone because he's making $8/hour and just wanting go get laid by his girl. Just sayin...

I bought a used but a less than one year old car from a dealer last year. Sometime between looking at it and taking delivery the next day two tires with less than 15k on them had huge gashes on the sidewalls and two rims scratched to heck. Luckily I did a walk around before we paid, so the dealer fixed it. But im not rubbing anybodies nose into it but you one complains about paying 40k for a truck and doesnt take 5mins to look at it, I think I know where the blame lies, and I think I know what the dealer is going to say and they are fair in saying that

I understand what you are saying but... I can honestly say that this would never happen with my sales guy. I can guarantee you he would have gone over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb before he would let anyone sign for it. The sales guy has no benefit in having issues like these. We have even talked about issues he had 20+ years ago when he started selling cars. He lost customers that were loyal over issues similar to these. Now he looks at these details as a way to ensure that he never has to have this sort of an issue with another customer. I like his approach even though I do my best to inspect when i can.

I showed the truck to the dealer who said that none of their Chevrolet truck's knobs LED lighting worked. They found that it did work on their GM Truck (LED is red vs Blue on the GM). They wouldn't do anything for me. I called GM who called the problem a manufacturing defect and told me the dealership will contact me within 48 hours.

I'm dropping mine off tomorrow and making them fix it. I already spoke with the service guy and told him what's missing and what type of tech is needed to fix it. I made him aware that I found the LEDs and that they are missing something to light them up, the rest is up to them.

please keep us informed of what they do to fix it.. I sure wish Jennifer T. Would light a fire under someones behind... GM needs to issue a TSB and fix our lights..Instead of waiting for all of us to throw a fit about it...
