2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

every new car Ive owned has had burning smell, either it was the brakes breaking in or the clutch, but usually went away within a gas tank or two.

I understand where your coming from, but this smell is not going away. This is the second 2014 silverado I got from Chevy and I have already driven it as much as my last one and my last one did not smell like this. It literally stinks!! It's a shame, only one week so far with this new truck and I already have a ton of issues!

Service manager called me today to say there is a technical bulletin on the issues with my truck. The problem is there is not a fix at this time. So, I am supposed to pick my truck up tomorrow with no way to adjust the seat, mirrors, or the pedals. Thankfully they are all adjusted to my liking at the time of failure.

Wondering if I should take this to the next level and get a different truck. 2 months, with only 1500 miles and already two separate major issues. (rack and pinion replaced, now this)

The service team at Texan GMC has been awesome throughout this whole ordeal, but I didn't buy this truck to keep visiting with them every two weeks.

So be aware there is an issue with no fix at this time. No clue how many are affected.

For those of you who have the silverado and are missing the glowing rings around the knobs (everyone) I have good news for you! Below you will see pictures that the lights are installed and the rings that glow are installed. However, for one reason or the other they are not turning on. I'm going to check if I'm missing a fuse or even better, take it to the dealership and tell them to figure it out. Everything needed is there. You can see that next to R32 the LED is connected to the board.

with all this minor and in some cases major repairs happening on these trucks... when is GM going to "step up" I agree with Texroc, YOU SOLD ME THE TRUCK IN THE DAYLIGHT WITH THE BROCHURE SHOWING BACKLIGHT KNOBS... then whats GM say oh were sorry that was our computerized photo demo to sell you the truck has a back liight knobs....but hey.. it doesnt actually apply to your truck.... so give us back that brochure...what the crap GM.. I swear if something messes up on my truck I will A) get a Brand New one with not One stinking Cent out of my Pocket.. Or B) they will REFUND ME THE ENTIRE MSRP... I did not buy this 46K truck to keep having issues.. Just the other day the front parking sensors came on when i parked close to a pole... ok.. good they are working.. but when I started my truck back up the alarm stayed blaring after backing up and then moving about 5ft forward.. and I couldnt stand it any more.. turned the truck off and restarted.... warning alarm still buzzing.. about 10 seconds later it went off... with all these issues that Im having and everbody else is having Lord help me if something major happens to my truck.. I WILL LAWYER UP.. Im just beyond livid right now. oh and I am only at 3k miles......

The LED's are just soldered to the board. there should be jumpers , diodes, resisters or "something" in those empty holes providing power to the LED's.. My question is how did you get that out of there.. i tried lightly prying on the plastic trim, but didnt want to break it...

Thanks,

So you take the entire center dash off. The screen, radio and air control all come off as one piece. Behind it you will find about 10 screws. Take them off and then the plastic that covers the screen and radio knobs. You will then see 5 more screws that hold the radio controls ( knobs and buttons ). Taking those of will allow the price to come free and then gently pry the plastic cover away from the knobs and buttons and you will see everything. Keep in mind that while doing this you will have 3 ribbons that connect everything together. Be careful not to rip or damage these at all. You will be sorry doing so. Hope that helps, also... Everything to light up the LED's is there, from what I saw the LEDs that do light up follow the same track as the ones that don't.

My problems, the ones I've noticed anyway, have been this: when i took possession of my rruck i noticed my driver side seat backing had some cuts on it, i believe they made when they were cutting the plastic off the seats. They replaced the backing. The soft leather on my driver side door panel started blistering and peeling, they replaced the door panel. The service mgr dinged the side of my truck with the air hose when he was putting air in my tires. They did some touch up paint. My rear sliding window locked up and they had to replace some parts. I'm keeping my fingers crossed nothing else happens.
