2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Toyota vs. Chevy... Who gives a crap, don't hijack this thread. Remember the name of this thread? "Any new 2014 Silverado owners having issues with their truck?" Start a new thread and discuss Toyota nonsense.

I've been following this thread just about everyday to see who else is having issues with their new 2014 SILVERADO and what is being done to fix it. Like many of you I am having problems with my truck.

1. Column shifter is loose.

2. Condensation in the headlights

3. Moving drivers seat. Dealer failed to fix it twice

4. Rough idle

5. RPM fluctuating

6. Loud clunk in the driveline

7. Missing lighting in the dash around radio knobs

8. Heat/cool seats don't work on remote start

Multiple computer updates and this crap is still happening. I've dealt with multiple GM reps. Next step is to lemon this turd.

YUP I got 8,3,4,6 on my new (only 2350 miles LTZ Z71)

Here is my update regarding my new the 2014 chevy Silverado.

First of all Thank you Jennifer T. For helping me with my 2014 LTZ Z71 rear axel issue.( FYI it has not been solved yet)

I have owned 2 2014 Silverado in the past 5 months and I think I will be buying something else soon, NOT GM.

My first Silverado purchased back in august 2013, had a hard transmission downshifting, broken seat, and a inoperable park assist.

dealer had it for a month ( open ticket for month and a half ) And the issue was never resolved.

I got rid of it after 3 months of going back and forth with my Local dealership and GM.

Thankfully GM they gave me buyer assistance ( because lemon law would had damage the reputation of my local dealership) towards the purchase of a new Silverado which I did! Thinking those issues were related only to my previous truck. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!

My 2014 LTZ Z71 currently has a clunk noise that comes only when its cold (early mornings usually) Their research ( no idea where they get this info!)

its normal.

Here is their explanation: "Vehicle is operating as designed, the clicking noise is caused by the axle but its meant to do that" Don't think so!

I have done my own research on 2014 silverados with the same package as mine (LTZ Z71) and 2013 silverados with the package LTZ Z71 and they research have indicated the NO NOISE AT ALL.

I have also tested the Ford 150 and the ram 1500 and again no noise.

I could live with the rest of the issues but........ I will not ! not for a $50000.00usd pick up truck.

I am very disappointed !!! even with all this issues this is a great truck! Don't get me wrong. I just can't continue driving a truck that I am not 100% satisfied with.

Hell maybe its me and I am cursed!!! who knows.

Dear GM:

how do you plan to be the No1 selling truck in the market, when your quality control team lacks love and care for the consumer.

Thank you.

they have fixed my broken seat. Yeah!!

Hello All, I just picked up a 2014 sierra slt with max trailering
package. I just pust put my first 50 miles on it and when i am coasting I
hear a loud low pitched whinning almost a hum. When I give the truck
power the sound goes away.

This happens from speeds of 30 miles per hour and up.

Voice link is a little glitchy. It will stop working randomly and when I restart the truck it works again.

Other than that the truck is fantastic

Sounds like a pinion bearing but that's just my opinion...

Man I am glad I did some surfing before dropping my hard earned cash. My short list is the Tundra and Silverado, I just sold an 04 z-71 extra cab that had the cracked head issue and the transfer case rub. I have been driving my trusty 06 Tacoma D cab with 150k and still on the original ball joints. I want another full size and was looking over the new Silverado, which they are very proud of IMO not a double cab on the lot for under 40k. Maybe I will just wait a few years I would burn the Fing thing if I paid 40k and had the issues some of you are having hope it gets better for you.

I too was set to buy a new GM 1500, but have decided to wait. IMO, there really is no comparison when it comes to quality when you are talking Toyota vs. the domestics. I would have bought a Tundra without skipping a beat, but the one thing that bugs me about Toyota is that even though they make great vehicles, they are slow to improve technology and their designs are too conservative. Had Toyota gone with a direct injection V8 that could return 18 mpg, i would own a Tundra. During their update this year, they neglected the engine and decided keep old technology, which gets horrid gas mileage. Very few people will buy a pickup that gets 13 mpg when they can get 18 mpg. Now it looks as if Toyota is still several years away from using an engine that is as efficient as the others. IMO, gas mileage is the main reason I would buy a GM over a Toyota.

You'll have to tell all the guys with 2500HD that get 13 mpg they are in the minority, they bought a truck with less power than a Tundra and get worse fuel economy with similar gearing

I have had my truck for two months and am having several issues. I like the truck but the issues are annoying me to death. Any ideas if they can fix these?

  1. My auto memory seat recall doesn't work. When I exit the truck it goes to the exit position automatically, but when I re-enter, i have push the button to manually set my seat. I have tried every. Read the manual a dozen times but it provides no clarity.
  2. When I purchased the truck the sales rep told me the auto collision will auto adjust the cruise control to stay the appropriate distance from the vehicle in front of me based upon the three levels. I really love this feature as I drive 60 miles a day, most highway. I can just click into cruise and go. This doesn't work, and no information.
  3. When I purchased the truck the sales rep stated the auto wipers where on my truck. It rained but I had to manually adjust. My wife's 2008 suburban works great, this doesn't.
  4. The auto collision alert only lights up or warns me if I am a few feet from the vehicle and approaching very fast. Almost got into an accident, didn't even do anything. I have it at the farthest setting but only alerts if I am a few feet away and they are stopped. Very scary.

I purchased the truck for these very features but none work. I got the brush off at the service, have to schedule something for them to even help me. Just plain rude. Very disappointing. My work schedule is such that its very difficult for me to leave my truck.

Havent had any problems with my Sierra all terrain other than the touch screen not working for a few minutes one morning. but i suspect it was due to going into reverse, changing the volume and trying to change the xm channel all very quickly. Hasnt happened since.

Also I have had to refresh my XM signal a couple times. I get the channels on the screen but there is no sound. But I wonder if that is more of an XM issue rather than the truck.

My issue was the spark plug wire on number 3 cyl just fell off... now thats quality control right there.. about 100miles down the road all warning lights cleared. Ive got a clanking noise when accelerating from a stop that I cant narrow down.. ive got some sort or wind noise/vibration its almost like there was a sunroof and it was partially open.. also the front piece of dash trim by 5ue windshield deforms and pops up when its cold out side and conforms back to place when it warms up.. all in all I'm having second thoughts on buying this truck... It really really irritates me to no end when GM advertises millions and millions of miles of testing yet still have issues I didn't (and dont have) have on my 2007 with 204k... just really ticks me off...

I noticed the same thing.. 24 deg out other morning remote start no heated seats heck heat wasn't even blowing from vents...Same here in central Minnesota. 30 degrees, remote start, cold seats. The option is turned on in system settings...

This has been reported several times in this thread. I believe my 2011 would turn them on if it was 40 or below.. maybe 45.

Yep ive got this issue as well

.. something sooo sooo simple the cheapo plastic like leather they use is rubbing against the plastic trim with the controls in it... another oversight by GM..

I too have the seat click that everyone is talking about. However looking at the recall it seems the issue they are fixing is not what we are talking about.

My problems seems to be more of a seat track issue than the seat back.

Well it seams as if we all have the same issue as i too am experiencing this

.how ling until GM recalls all if these and fixes all these irritating issues...mine is doing this too. Sometimes is sooth, other times it feels so rough...almost like it is going to stall. I'm going to bring it in at my first opportunity.
