2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I talked about this issue in a post I left in the noisey top end thread but thought I'd post it hear as well after reading Natek's post about his truck "shutting down" . I've had my truck about 3 weeks now and a couple days ago when I turned the key on and the computer was "checking" whatever it checks the system just shut done. The info screens, accent lights, whatever was on went off. I turned the key off, scratched my head (which accomplished nothing) and tried agian. Everything worked as it should but the clock ha reset to 1200 so I know EVERTHING was dead for that short moment. When willl this happen again and how long will it last next time?? I'm enjoying this truck, I'm not dissing it, and I will post a picture of me and my ride if it makes anyone feel better. I'll be talking to the dealer this week and will post what I hear. Best Peter

I am looking into an alternative to the Rancho junk on the truck. It's really sad that companies can't provide reliable products!

My fear is that I get them replaced and the same thing happens. I know for sure both back shocks are leaking, I'll check front this morning. Trucks has never been off road, and only has 5200 Miles.

why are you all wasting time with these rancho raunchy shocks. Please consider my advise and switch to Bilstein 5100s. I have run Bilsteins on all my subs and trucks for over 400,000 miles. Never leaked. firm but not harsh ride and much more control without harsh rebound etc...

Try the rears first. then do the fronts if you like (you will). The fronts also allow you to level the truck with out the problems coming with a lift. Heck, I even put Bilsteins on my 280Z way back when.

For what one pays for these trucks, I just cannot see why the first mods are not good tires and shocks. changes the ride for the better. For tires, I put Michelins LTX, MS (Ps)on the day I bought it. I have the same tire in LTX LT version on my sub. I like the LT a little better and will put it on my trk when these go.

I have been looking online and no one lists the 5100's for the 2014 1500 trucks yet. I love them on my 2001 Z71

While I'm not defending Rancho, I worked for a Bilstein dealer (auto) and did plenty of warranty returns to Bilstein. The Ranchos on my 2011 Z71 are fine, again not defending just stating my experience with Bilstein.

Call 4 wd to see if they have them. Web page maynot be up to speed yet. I think the 900s Bils will fit?

Well like I said I have well over 400,000 on them so far and good to go. Not sure how wty shocks failed or how driven. Am Sure the ranchos are fine, just Bilsteins give much better ride and handling.

Honestly the ride with the Rancho's seems pretty darn good to me. Also, my truck came with Bridgestone's which IMO are really good tires. That said if mine came with Goodyears I would have taken them off right away as well...

I have bilstein heavy duties. They are awesome.

I refer to my point in another thread...

They are decent shocks. Amazing under a load

I had the truck to the dealer today and they seem to have gotten the heated seats working. They said that they went through the settings again and had success. They also said that the highest temperature was 50 degrees vs 35 degrees that GM reported to me. I will try the seats tonight after the truck cools down to make sure.

I confirmed that the heated seats are working. I level of heat, however, is very low, almost impossible to tell. I can place a small towel on the passenger side seat and then I can tell that the heat has come on. Very different than the 2010 model year and probably not worth any extra expense when considering a new vehicle.

does the indicator light come the heated seat when they are activated by remote start?

According to the manual. No the lights do not come on during a remote start. Apparently none of the lights come on the dash during a remote start till you get in and turn the key.

You guys realize the rancho shocks are the same shocks on EVERY truck w/ an "off road package"? I'd wager the bilsteins are better but why in the hell would I pay to replace them this early on when I just spent nearly $50,000 on a truck including the "all terrain/Z71" package that includes the shocks? Plus, if they DO fail you get them replaced for free under warranty.

I may very well replace them but not 1 mile before 36,000 - I'm getting my moneys worth. Same thing goes for the good year tires.
