2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

All I'm saying is I could find a lot of other more important things to complain about with this new truck. God awful trans, heated seats not working w/ remote start , etc, etc.. My truck is the same as your... and I had to look for the carpet issue ...with a flashlight...lol.

OK Jennifer, apparently I do not know how to private message you. I would like to find out if the carpet needs to be replaced.

I had the truck to the dealer today and they seem to have gotten the heated seats working. They said that they went through the settings again and had success. They also said that the highest temperature was 50 degrees vs 35 degrees that GM reported to me. I will try the seats tonight after the truck cools down to make sure.

I was informed by phone today that the hole in the carpet is "normal" for 2014 Chevy Silverado trucks, at least the LTZ. So much for fit and finish!

I found another "cut" in the carpet. I'm not going to bother reporting it as it is a waste of time as GM has said that they will not repair the carpet.

They precut these holes for every truck. It saves time on the production line to have them already there if needed or not. That way you don't have line workers using dull scissors or a box cutter to cut a hole where needed. $50k or not that's the way parts are made these days. Hell I bet the Caddy Escalades have precut holes as well.

SPC,

That is good news that your heated seat issue seems to be resolved. I see that you have also posted that you may have some concerns regarding finding tears in your carpet. I cannot guarantee anything but I would like to look into this concern for you.

That's fine if you can Jennifer, but I've now had the truck to the dealer 4 times and they will not repair the carpet. I've also received a call from GM who said that they will not repair the carpet. This is my 5th Silverado and I don't recall ever seeing this particular issue before. If it were my company, I would not ship a vehicle like that.

I was under the vehicle just looking at the suspension, I noticed that the rear Rancho Shocks appear to be leaking, (shock was covered with dirt.) I wipe them off and drove another 10 days or so, checked them last night and the collection of dirt is present again in the same area.

Has anyone noticed this on their Z71's.

I have been having issues with the rancho shocks as well. My issue has been a noise as they are extremely squeaky. Good this is the dealership and mechanic are being extremely helpful (mechanic things the inside of the shock is faulty) I am taking it in next week for further diagnostics.

As budget allows, recommend you replace with Bilsteins 5100s. You will never look back. They are way better than the ranchos. The 5100s will also raise the front if you like. I did mine two at a time to spread out the cost. 4 wheel drive had them on sale awhile back

Every time I hear rancho shocks I think about my old friends small ranch he called "El Rancho Raunchy"

are your fronts or rears leaking oil (Rancho)?

I noticed the rear ones leaking, haven't looked at the front, I would not be surprised if there leaking also. I also noticed the rear are making noise.

I am looking into an alternative to the Rancho junk on the truck. It's really sad that companies can't provide reliable products!

My fear is that I get them replaced and the same thing happens. I know for sure both back shocks are leaking, I'll check front this morning. Trucks has never been off road, and only has 5200 Miles.
