2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

Don't forget that the "testing" was done on a limited production of vehicles. They are primarily testing out the design and build of the new truck. There's no way to really test out the kind of problems that happen when they start manufacturing volumes of the vehicle.

I don't know the details of the problem with the seat, but the airbag issue was definitely a weld flaw likely associated with the manufacturing line doing something wrong. These things are all downsides of buying a first year run vehicle. It sucks, for sure, but you have to expect it to an point.

I have a lot of complaints that are design flaws, but they are minor, mostly electronic system inconveniences. Fortunately I haven't had the seat clicking recall issue, but then again I have power seats. (knocking on wood as I type).

I too have the seat click that everyone is talking about. However looking at the recall it seems the issue they are fixing is not what we are talking about.

My problems seems to be more of a seat track issue than the seat back.

I took mine to the dealer for the seat popping noise. They stated it was an issue with the motor on the track being a little loose. They tightened the tolerance and it fixed the noise.

Of course they stated they couldn't hear the rear end noise even though I hear it very clear every morning and now starting to hear it through out the day at random times. I guess only time will tell.

Thanks for the heads up on this. It seems a few people on the forum here are having this problem too.

I got my 2014 LTZ crew cab two weeks ago and have a few problems that the
dealer can't seem to figure out. The first one is an intermittent buzzing
noise in the transmission. It sounds like a solenoid buzzing. It started out
only doing it in park and only after it warms up and now it does it in first
gear. I heard it driving into an ATM with the window down. When the buzzing
first started, the truck shuttered and wouldn't shift when driving out of my
driveway and I stopped and turned the truck off and on and it then ran
ok for a few days. Now the transmission is starting to make a whining noise. It
does it in park, neutral, and all gears. It sounds like an old power steering
pump low on fluid. I listened to other trucks on the dealer's lot and they have a slight
whine too, just not near as loud as mine. The buzzing noise came back today. I also have
a slight hesitation when taking off and when it shifts. The infotainment system
has issues. My weather app wouldn't work for a full day and mysteriously
started working the next day. When I start the truck and turn on the heater or
AC, it's always in medium fan speed. The fan speed won't turn down unless u
turn it up first then it will go all the way down. When I shut the info display
off at night, it comes back on about 5 minutes later and I have to turn it off
again. The truck was taken to the dealer with all these concerns and none was
fixed. They plugged in and did some updates to the truck that was available,
but nothing helped any of the issues. The dealer has no idea what to do next.
I'm bummed about the whole thing...

A lot of people on hear are complaining nof clicking or ticking under the hood which is more than likely just the DI working it's magic. Back when I had my Cobalt SS turbo the clicking was insane compared to these new trucks. They came out with a solution for it and designed this cover that installed over the cam driven mechanical fuel pump and it made a huge difference. I'm sure if people keep complaining about it they will make one for these trucks as well.

Hi new guy here. I just put a deposit down yesterday on a Sierra SLE CC Std bed 4x4 (not Z71) with bucket seats. I'm glad I found this thread as I no longer question whether I should have ordered the SLT for cooled seats, lane departure, sliding rear window, etc. Less complexity to worry about. Truck is silver and I will do a good look over for paint defects, listen for squeaks, rough idle, sliding/noisy seats during the upcoming test drive.

The dealership is going to add leather seating to the truck prior to delivery. I understand this to be aftermarket leather seat covers. I wonder if I should ask them to do the seat clip repair pre-emptively?

BTW I am coming from a 2001 Silverado ECSB Z71 4x4 with 200k miles with a transplanted 6.0 with worked 241 heads and an LS6 cam. Even with 200k miles the front end and steering on the old 01 is much more precise than my wife's 2012 Suburban Z71 4x4 - even after alignment the front end of that Suburban seems floaty with poor on-center tracking.

I previously posted this in a different area.

I have a 2014 Silverado Crew Cab LTZ and have problems with the Remote Start Feature. The vehicle does start but neither the Heated or Cooled Seats will activate. Been to the dealer twice about this. GM stated that the system works as it should but the seats have never come on. Temperatures have ranged from 34 degrees in the morning to 78 in the afternoon.
