2014+ owners having issues with their truck?

Recommended Posts

I had my truck into the dealership a few weeks ago for seat movement issues and it seems they added two small clips to fasten the seat cushion to the frame. At first it seemed it may be better (I think it was psychological), but I now have movement in the seat again. I see the clips are still there, but I get seat movement (lateral and forwards/backwards, not up and down) in turns and braking. It definitely feels like the bracket to me as the movement is small but sudden and clunks, not like the cushion is sliding. Every time I get in the seat clicks/clunks a little in a manner that makes it seem as if it is taking up the slack in the bracket.

Anyone who has had the actual seat bracket replaced have any better luck fixing the issue? is it the same bracket without a fix to address the slop in the bracket? THis is ridiculous to have this happen on such an expensive vehicle. I know it is a new model blah blah blah, but things like this fall under the basic fundamentals. Figure out how to make a seat!!! Venting over....Thanks for the help!

I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado. I have noticed two issues:

1. I have the Remote Start Option and Heated and Cooled Seats. I have not been able to get either the cooled or heated seats to work with Remote Start. The lowest outside temperature has been 35 degrees and the highest 76 degrees. It has been to the dealer twice w/o any fix. GM states that the system "is working properly". My wife enjoys heated seats so my procedure for "remote start" is to go outside and start the vehicle with the key and turn on her seats.

2. I have a subscription to OnStar and after downloading directions, I've noticed that the audio directions ignor anything else happening, such as a call to OnStar. The onboard directions just talk over everything else. This has not been reported to the dealer yet.

A few things, truck only has 900 miles.
1) driving on the hwy about 60-65 mph, all the gauges, including DIC shut off for about 1-2 secs. Only happened once.
2) i drove about 30 mins to take a hike with my dog. came back 45 mins later andGPS would not work, actually had a small GPS button on screen with a red X on it. Met someone for coffee, and when I got back in the truck problem was gone. Has not reoccurred.

Everything else has been great and i love the truck. But GM definitely needed more details to use the voice recognition. Speaking in sentences is not detected correctly at all - not even close.
But now that I've figured out the keywords to use, its pretty good, but sadly not as good as my wife's acura!

A sweet truck though - and im impressed with the Bose stereo (and i hate Bose in general). And I really like the SD memory card for cheap music storage!

How many times you gonna post the same thing?

There are 2 different, almost identical threads:

1) Any new 2014 Silverado owners having issues with their truck? 2) Is there anyone having no problems with their new 2014?

I thought I posted my reply to #1. Now I'm trying to figure out how to delete it from #1, since it shouldn't be there. ...And if my posting something twice get's you riled up enough to comment about it, you need to get a life man! hahaha

well I dont have the silverado but the New 2014 GMC sierra SLT all terrain. I like the new truck, rides good, quiet, and gas mileage is slightly better in upper Canada region.

Issue i'm having so far is;

I have a dull round spot in my silver metallic paint on driver side box near the rear cab with some fine dust particles. It looks like someone put their elbow in to the paint before clear coat went on or something. Never noticed on the dealers lot, I'm very disappointed. I don't want the truck repainted. I have less then 500km on it, purchased Sept 31/13 and want the truck replaced for new. Paying over $60000.00 for a truck with a flaw in the paint is not satisfactory if GM says it can be re-painted and flip the bill for it. Once repainted, its never the same. I could not care about their paint/corrosion warranty cause they will always find a way not to pay in the long run. Obviously the quality control part or the people who do final inspections did not do there job right.

The spot is very obvious to the eye in the day light and at night where there are street lights. I have pictures to prove it. You would think I could try to live with it but it just doesn't look right and i'm pissed about it. Again, $60,000.00 + with looks like that in the paint just doesn't cut it.

Another issue,,,,who puts Passenger tires on a All Terrain pkg. even if it has 20'' rims. This has to be someone who sits behind a desk, walks home or on paved roads. This has to be a mistake by GM. I know you can get LT tires in 17'' but, certainly no excuse on 18'' or 20''.

That spot posed above and what I've seen on my own truck just proves that there is no quality control on these trucks at all. That should never been let out of the plant that way. it's not like a mechanical issue that you can't see it a very noticeable defect and if nothing else the dealer should have caught it.

I have the ice silver paint also and the paint job is horrendous. About 15 dirt nibs in the hood, nibs thought with a small fish eye hear and there, a run in the clear coat above the right headlights and dirt nib spots that have been partially sanded out but not all the way so there's a hump from the nib then sand scratches from not being buffed out all the way. Shine between the door and fender is different. Horrible orange peel thought the truck. Slight modeling thought paint job but not as bad as Ford. Between the two doors there's a brighter silver line the run 6" into the back of the front door and 6" into the front of the rear. That bright spot runs from the window down to the bottom of the door and can only be seen in bright sunlight and when parked in my garage with the grage door opener lights on.

In all fairness I'm an auto body painter for the last 17 years. I should have seen some of this before buying but it was parked tightly between two other trucks so I never did a good walk around and some of it is only noticeable in the garage. I also checked with a mil gauge and checked for paint edges to make shure the dealer didn't repaint any of it ad that it was indeed GM's work.

The part of if you repaint it it will never be the same is total bs, it will be much better then then factory if you bring it to a good shop. A good shop will take everything off the truck to paint it too, like remove fuel filler door bed rail covers tail lights, remove rear bumper, set back the box remove 4x4 decal, also blend the color into the adjacent panel. Also sand and buff all dirt nibs. A good shop more then likely will not be the dealer so you will be flipping the bill. Ask around town who does the best work especially when it comes to paint. I love hearing from customers that come to my work and say I had this painted at shop x and it doesn't match so I asked around town and friends who does the best paint in town and they said you. My first thought is why didn't you bring it to us in the first place and did you hear that boss? Time for a raise! Just rember the cheapest bid is cheaper for a reason! We are the most expensive shop in my town but we still get plenty of work because of our reputation.

I have to agree with Silver Spaceship. The paint on these trucks leaves a lot to be desired. From orange peel to paint runs I have it on my truck. I also have a paint chip that was made when the fender was put on. It's on the end and the door covers it when it's closed so if you don't know it's there you never will. I know that they will have to repaint the whole side of the truck to get it to match though so I'm just going to leave it alone and keep it waxed. As far as GM replacing the entire truck for a paint defect good luck with that one. I think they will say that you have not even given them a chance to correct the issue yet. Keep us posted how it turns out. I walked around my truck for about 10 minutes before I took the keys from the salesman. I will never understand why people post on here they have a defect with their truck and should have looked at it better or should have gone during the day. Then when they get home and see it. There is a defect with it. I know people want to get their new truck and drive off as soon as they get to the lot but, you gotta be careful about that. It's like getting a rental car and them handing you the inspection sheet. Make sure every dent and scratch is marked before you drive off.

I bought my New Chevy Silverado on Saturday the 5th of October. Two days later the air conditioner would not come on until 20 minutes of working with it. Today the 9th i now have a noise under the hood that wasnt there before. Its more of an internal sound , its like every revolution of the belts the noise is made. You can hear it from about 30 feet away. Its more of a clicking noise then a tapping noise. I also just read that there is a recall for the front seats of the Silverado and GMC sierra. By the way the air conditioner is now working but i am taking the truck in tomorrow to have it looked at. Well maybe they said they might not have a loner car available.post-124648-0-31446600-1381370614_thumb.jpg

I too have the seat click that everyone is talking about. However looking at the recall it seems the issue they are fixing is not what we are talking about.

My problems seems to be more of a seat track issue than the seat back.
