Right now at 15.75 ytd and 25.66 past 12 months. I'm a federal employee and use TSP for my primary retirement savings. I have another 24+ years to go to hit minimum age for retirement, so I have 100% in S fund, which is managed to track the Dow index.

Not sure.....FIL who has been managing accounts his entire life (retired), handles our stuff......we don't even open the envelopes when they come in the mail....he has all our personal info and PIN codes....he just sez that "We won't have to worry about funds when we are ready to retire".....we have Fidelity.....Equitable AXA.....Credit Union....and a Pension......I hope he's right, 'cause we are sacrificing now for a brighter future.....we'll find out in 10 years....looking to retire 3 years early.....can't depend on Social Security

It's different up here. I invest in RRSP, and one other mutual savings bond. I maxed out RRSP last year, also invest in two gold companies which isn't lookin good right now. Share prices are down, I'm gonna buy more right away. My job pays me about $7/hour towards pension as well. Usually about 25k a year into the pension.

There are two HUGE flaws though, main one is tax deferred until withdraw unless you choose roth option. Yeah, taxes in a few decades will be nice . Also is some of the fund transfer restrictions, they are limited so you cant actively manage it especially with the up to 2 day processing delay.

I personally know quite a few guys who lost most their retirement when the market crashed im 08 because of heavy investment in S. I had pulled out of S mid 08 as I saw it coming and thats why I made a ton in 09.

I Am shifting a lot of mine to new Roth option now.

I do know that there is a Roth.......hopefully will only need to draw a little at a time at retirement.....need to find a state that doesn't tax Pensions

My employer matches up to 5% so I contribute that much, and they also throw in another 4% to make up for not having a pension anymore. My ROR for my 401 is 16%, and my ROR for my 2 IRA's are10 and 13%.
