First Scratch

Recommended Posts

It was bound to happen. Pulling a bag of duck decoys out of the truck I put a deep scratch right on top of the bed. I know I could try to buff it, but it will probably still be there and I will always notice it. Whats the best price out there on bed rail protectors to cover this the best I can?? I had no idea they were so expensive.  :jester:

I installed General Motor's black vinyl rail protectors.  These have the stake holes cut in them and perfectly match.  My dealer sold them to me for right at $80.00.  That price can be beat, but these are quite good.

For my bed, I elected to go with the Bed Rug.  But, even that is expensive, but it sure is comfortable on the knees, is tough, and is great for camping.  Not as tough as Line-X, Herculiner, or RhinoLiner, but is nicer on the knees and also when sliding around with bare arms or when wearing shorts.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have covered the bed and the bed sides with marine carpeting with some sort of padding on the flooring.  Probably is tougher and cheaper.

Might want to get something that will match your truck or anything you might be doing to it in the future .

I got these bed rail caps with the truck.

They look pretty good when matched up with the toolbox IMO .

You could probally find some good prices if you search the internet .

here are some black plastic ones for 70 bucks

Here is a choice of diamond tread (like mine) black smooth and black ribbed for 80 bucks http://www.truckspecialties.com/bushwacker_bedcaps.htm

There are a lot more places out there but here is a start  :jester:

Hey city.......

Did you bag any ducks?  That way if you were lucky and had gotten something it might have softened the scratch :thumb:   Scratches suck but isn't that why we have trucks?  So they can take a beating and keep on ticking :jester:

Just my thoughts

Was the best last day of season ever, saw over 500 ducks, season should be longer. Did soften it at the time. Like the old Chevy commercial; scratches give it character, women like character. :P

Anyway I still want to prevent anymore from happening, I use my truck for what it is built for. But run straight to carwash  right afterwards!!  :(
