2014 Sierra/Silverado Bulb Sizes

Recommended Posts

Are there any options other then led's for the fog lights? Ps24 , I can't seem to find anything but factory

Thanks guys

5202 HID kits. Or you could always switch them for complete aftermarket set ups like a rigid industries Dually pod.

I tried to get at least one person to show HID in their fogs without issue before I bought them, but not one person came forward. That is why I ordered VLED.com 3000lm kit instead. They just started shipping them out and they are still on sale. I'll post pics ASAP and hopefully this year. There are no halogen bulbs to make them brighter that could find. The normal LED just gives you white and probably looses a little light.

Got my VLED 3000LM lights for my fogs last night and installed them today. I tuned them by rotating them on the garage door and set them to where it looked like they where the tightest brightest beam. Once it got dark I tested them out and they are not okay for street as they are. I hope there is an adjuster on the housings and I'm going to see what I can do with the lights also. I don't know if turning them will help any, but hopefully it will. I do thing I can make it better if I can get them mount shallower like the stock bulbs. They certainly are white and bright. The kit only has a couple of odd things, The two wires from the box to the light are different length and I can't figure out why. The connector to tap into the stock lights also has the fitting for the 5202 bulb so it can clip into the housing. My guess is it's the only way they could order the connectors is all. Other than that the kit is very nice and would probably work great in head lights if they didn't need open air to stay cool.

Was there any relays required? Or is it plug and play to the stock connectors??

What do you mean when you said they are not ok for streets?? Too bright??

Yes, plug and play. They are still 25 watt draw, just with way more light output. Not only are they very bright, but if you look in the picture of the stock and new light on the garage door you can see how it is higher up. The second or third to last photo is against the garage from about 20 feet. The next picture you see the cut line of my headlights and it is lower than the fog lights were lighting up the garage side.

I notice also they are a full square shape when close on the door, so I'm guessing the two lights being on each side of the stick is now lighting up both sides of the reflector. I'll have to try covering the lower bulb and see if that makes it like stock. I tired pulling the bulbs out some and it actually got more spread than when all the way in. There is a little adjustment on the back and I did that to help, but I don't think it was enough since I wasn't okay going further and having a gap. I guess if one light covered works, I'll have to put these in my car and order the set that has a high and low beam. Then I can drive with one and turn on the other with high beams to add more light.

I recommend some other people try these bulbs out. I did all lights in one of my car with these and they are all great while 2/5 the price of VLED. They don't do the V3 super bright stuff, but for stock upgrade replacement they are nice. They offer a 30 day return also. The 194 is about 5 times as bright as stock. The 7440 and 7443 might only be as good as stock. I am waiting on load resistors to slow down the blinkers and then I'll have a full report. I'm also going to put a set in the tail lights of the truck once I get time to see how they work out. I'll report with pictures if I can.

Can you take some pictures actually out on the road? Showing distance and actual effect? Also are you assuming this will bother other drivers with glare because of the light spread, or you went out and people were constantly flashing you?

I have never turned them on during the nite with traffic. If I'm 20 feet from the stop sign and turn them on it lights up the sign like I hit high beams. I'll find a place to get that picture. This weekend I'm going to try and cover the lower LED to test. If that works I want to find a way to turn it on with my high beams. It has 4 wires going to it so I'm hoping VLED can sell me an extension I can cut up and break the lower up signal with a relay. Then with fogs on and high beams, I get all the light. Not sure that will work though.

Okay, pulled out the real camera and got so usable pictures to show why they are not street use lights or fog use lights either.

Fog lights on only. You can see the stop sight has a lot of light on it.

SMD5082

Low beams only. Now you can see the stop sign is not even close to having light on it.

SMD5083

The entire series of shot.

I used aluminum foil tape to make a shroud to go over the top light and block it from going up. From 50 feet it keeps the light about 35" lower and just under the low beams. If I can't get a way to electronically control the top light with my high beams. I'll machine a real shroud to keep it low. I'm not 100% I can run on the road with the top blocked or turned off. However it is low enough that I will test it out on some traffic before I can say it's not street usable.

What HIDs are you using in your headlights? I just have enough light with 35w HIDs and two LED fogs rated at 1150lm each. This is plenty for me. Getting 55w in the mail and then I wont even be keeping my fogs on anymore

I have 50 watt from TRS with the FXR projector. I wouldn't run them before because they were yellow. I don't run them now as they blinding people, but I'd like to be able to use them in Fog.

I talked with VLEDs today and I can't put a relay to control one side of the light, so I will be making a color with a reflector to mount on the lights to keep the cut off low and usable. Got to many other things going to do it right away they way I want. I might use the lathe to make a quick set from bar stock and cut half to get started this weekend if I find some time. I want to get to a mill to make a sharper cutoff for the final.
