2014 Aftermarket Accessories

Recommended Posts

Installed the OEM unit in my Double Cab today (crew cab mounts the same way according to the instructions). An observation for your situation is that the OEM unit uses metal brackets that attach to the seat bolts and then to the unit with screws into the brackets. Even if you replace the supplied torx screws with easier cap screws, the metal brackets might be an issue. For me, the OEM's brackets make it very secure. But in your situation, the straps might be better. Just a thought.

Hmm...good to hear. Thank you.

I thought someone replace their cargo lights with these bulbs a while back, but didn't have great results? But the pictures above seem real bright

I think that was another thread about using these in place of the reverse lights that was not positive.

Sorry, trying to figure out the angle. Is it easy to remove? I can get the OEM one for $154 however want an easy in and out as stated. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

If you flip your seats up and look back into the corners of the cab under the seats you will see two bolts sticking up the washer and bolt threads onto them and the strap goes around that...

Moto - didn't you try the Samsung's for the cargo lights already?

Ha, funny you mention that but I don't have bed cargo lighting. That's only the cargo lights in the third tail light.

I felt they are pretty dang bright.

Yeah, I just read over post a little too quickly. ha

As discussed in the cargo/reverse LED thread, the 10w Samsung 2323's are good as cargo bulbs, but the VLEDS are better.

*However, the Samsung's are worthless as reverse bulbs b/c of taillight housing design.

"*However, the Samsung's are worthless as reverse bulbs b/c of taillight housing design. ""

Would you say the VLEDS are also worthless for reverse bulbs? Any better than stock?

- If you use the 921 VLEDs for cargo, they're easily twice as bright as stock cargo bulbs.

- If you use the 921 VLEDs for reverse, they're about 20-30% brighter than stock reverse bulbs.

Problem is the taillight plastic doesn't let the light out evenly, so you get bands of bright light & bands of dimmer light, which overall reduces the LED bulb's total effectiveness.

*If GM had kept the K2 taillight's plastic clear, like the GMT-900's, then the VLEDs as reverse bulbs would also likely have been twice as bright.

I swapped both cargo & reverse to VLEDs. If one day they come out with even brighter 921 LEDs, I'll upgrade my reverse LEDs, but the VLED cargo's are plenty. Hope this helps y'all decide!

The lights are tapped off the factory bed lights so work on the cargo switch .....bedslide comes out about 80% for easy loading
