Pledge Wipes Orange Oil

Recommended Posts

I received a couple of free samples a few weeks ago with the local sunday paper.  I have never liked the look nor the smell of Armorall and any of it's product brethren.  I thought, since the Pledge wipes do not contain any wax, that I would try them out on the interior dash and such.

The wipes leave a really nice satin sheen.  There is no greasy feel to the dash at all.  The orange smell is not at all overwhelming.  The cloth used for the wipes hold up very well.  They are fiberous enough to "scrub" the misc dried soda droplets off with ease.  Two wipes seem to be plenty for a extended cab.  Four probably for a Suburban.

The product does come in non-wipe form of aerosol, and trigger spray.

I've tried that stuff before and it works great.....  However I've always been curious of the following.

I've heard from a un-reliable source that if you use armorall you can actually take life away from your dash.  It aids in the cracking process if you don't use it all the time.  EX: If you put lotion on your hands your hands tend to dry out quicker then if you never put lotion on them before.

So.  That being said do you think this product would cause the same results?

That being said is why I bought a dash mat cover and said.... Forget dealing with all the misc products out on the market.

I stopped using Armor All about a year ago. The sillicon can crack and fade the dash pad. I use Maguires now. It doesn't have sillicon, has UV protection, doesn't give a high gloss shine, and lasts.

Also, Sillicon attracts dust, so Armor All makes your dash get dirtier quicker. Sillicon also contains chemicals that evaporate. Hence, a thicker and quicker film on your windsheild. :jester:

Armor All is BBAAAAAADDDD stuff.

I use dust to shine up my dashboard...oh wait... :D

Really, I don't use anything other water and a rag to clean my dash.  It is pointless to waste time on it here...3 seconds after wiping it off, new desert dust and dirt settle on it.

But I will have to give that Natural Shine or Orange stuff a try some day...dash is beinging to look a little icky, even when I wipe it off.
