Trying to wire a Brake Controller....pull down the Harness....Thank You for the 8 inches of Wiring.....tag does not show what color wire for Brakes.....I figured it's gotta be Dark Blue by elimination (has "AUX" on it), but want to be sure....call GM customer Service....they don't know, and will call me back with an answer.....10 minutes go by and have a Tech from GM on the phone, and he explains to me how to sinc my camper to the 7 pin......"WTF you talkin' about....I need to wire a Brake Controller !!!"......"I need to know if the Dark Blue Wire from the Harness is for the Brakes"....he sez "I don't know, and cannot get that information".....WTF !!!!!!.....I'm hating this POS truck more than ever now.....they cheap out on the wire.....then there is no nut to attach the red wire under the hood.....gimme a freakin' break !!!.....I can't wait till this lease is up!

According to my owner's manual the colours are as follows

Dark Blue - brake signal to trailer

Red/Black - Battery

Light Blue/White - Brake switch

White - Ground

See the attachment for the actual page. I am sure your manual has it as well.

Why not buy a plug and play harness for your controller. That is what I did. Hardest part of the job was mounting the controller

900-series trucks aren't plug and play. You just get a bundle of wires under the dash to splice into.

Yeah....go ahead and laugh, I looked for it in the owners manual, and didn't find it the first time around....found it after realizing customer service was a waste of time. Just don't understand why they couldn't have the tag on the wire read accurate, have such a short lead, and why not stick with a plug and play like my 2006 Silverado....this Silverado makes 6 that I have owned, and this one by far the one that I just can't stand.....don't like the way it rides....the 6 speed tranny always looking to upshift, and ya gotta nail it to go from 60mph to 70mph....my '06 was just a little squeeze on the gas and she'd get there....this thing, I squeeze on it little by little....not going anywhere, now I'm holding up traffic and gotta hit it hard...then it's downshift and off we go. Guess I gotta get used to it, signed up for 3 years.....on the 35th month, I'm beating the dog snot out of it while it's still under warranty.

Driving with the trans in M4/M5 will help with responsiveness and prevent it from running to 6th all the time. I've done that from the day I bought mine. I also hunted for one with the integrated brake controller so I wouldn't have to deal with aftermarket stuff hanging from the knee bolster.

This is a step backwards.

Not when the factory installed brake controller is an option. The wires are just for people who didn't buy the right truck. I realize there are limited applications it is not compatible with but for 99% of what is out there it works and will likely work better than the aftermarket stuff. But for me the integrated controller was a must have.

Believe me...if I had time, I would have bought "the right truck"....my '06 was in for costly repairs and was nearing 100,000 miles....Wife would no longer trust the truck, and I needed transportation by the next afternoon and got the closest to what I had in the '06 that was on the lot.....thats why it's a lease....in 3 years, I will have the right truck :driving:
