Denali and 6.2L Revealed!

Recommended Posts

I wasn't impressed with the HP number but it could change between now and when it's available. I think the torque is pretty impressive though, but I'm wondering at what rpm it will have all that torque...

I think that the AWD system delete is great, whoever wants AWD just can leave it in AutoTrac...solved, enough whining.

Also like the dash, but the steering wheel is kinda quiet, with the small lettering.

I think its crumby that the Denali doesnt have deployable running boards. The chrome step bars are not luxury. Platinum Ford has them standard.

The numbers shown for the 6.2 I hope are for 87 octane, because for a all new engine, seems like a waste of development, that is unless alot more fuel friendly---doubtful though.

How is 420 HP not impressive? It beats everyone else and is only 40 HP below the new Vette.

Screw the HP, 450 lb ft of torque! And based on the torque curve of the 5.3L, this truck is going to be a low RPM monster.

We also need to keep in mind that these are the *estimated* power/torque ratings.....which means that this engine hasn't been SAE rated yet. Typically GM low balls the initial output releases and the engines gain hp once they've been SAE rated. The LT1 in the C7 Vette is a perfect example.

HP is a useless figure IMO. Torque and what RPM it's at is all that matters to me.

Agreed. You want more HP, just spin the engine faster.

To amend my comment I must state that I too am curious of how low in the RPM band those numbers are at. I was thinking the Ford 6.2 was around those same numbers.

Awesome front end :gmc:

I wonder could the bucket cooled seats and the dash instrument panel be swapped to single cab ..

Please If there is any info about it, cause I hate long turning radius! think of double cab denali trim?

Yea and it's only 17hp more than the current 6.2L. Whoopee. Doesn't matter anyhow because the torque is all that matters really. Hopefully it's at a low enough rpm to be usable.

I feel like they could have done more with the Denali. Other than the grill and dash it doesn't seem that much above the SLT.

Was hoping for more.

I think the problem is that there are getting too much content in the SLT. Too many options that would have been expected on a Cadillac fill out the option list on a normal pickup now.

They should have just taken the interior out of the Escalade and stuffed in a supercharged 6.2L and make the truck really obscene and unique.
