Rough Country 6" Lift not really 6"?

Recommended Posts

I went out and measured my front drop crossmember on my lunch break just now, and the crossmember, from stock bolt location straight down to the new lower a arm location, is only 4.5 inches. Now I know its only 1.5 inches, but Im just wondering if that is how tall they normally are, or is it possible that they sent me a 4 inch lift? Before I installed my body lift, I had to do quite a bit of trimming to the front bumper, to the point where I was actually chopping part of the bumper. I know RCX is not the greatest lift out there, but they didn't have to short me that much. If anyone has any info on this, that would be great.

A lot of companies use their 4 - 4.5" kits for their 6 - 6.5" kits. Same crossmember, diff drop, etc. But either longer struts or you have to crank depending on the application.

I was looking at an '03 2500hd and crawled under his truck and measured the cross member and it was a true 6". His was also RCX. Maybe that's just because its a 2500, I'm not sure.

Did yours use new spindles? That could be where the extra 1.5" is

Now wonder it was only $1000. If I combined what I spent on that plus my body lift, I could have bought a nice fabtech or skyjacker lift.

Funny thing is, when you read the instructions for the install, it says return the torsion keys to the stock height. Good thing I had my level keys still, because the bump stop was sitting on torsion bar/ bump stop pad riser.

Now I know not to get a RCX lift in the future. Thanks!
