Recommended Posts

Hey there,

is there anyone out there who has removed his lift kit?? after two years with the 6" lift I wanna go back to stock...now I´m just wondering if its possible to weld those parts back on that were cut down to install the rear crossmember!

Any one an idea??

Ok, Havent got info but The truck is a GMT900. Mine would be an 800. What had to be cut and welded?

As far as I know the control arm pocket on drivers side had to be cut for lowering the differential...question is now, can those pieces be welded back to install the original rear crossmember?

I was making sure I was going to change it for you but I had to run an errand for work. I figure might attract the right people if it was the correct model.

Do you have all the parts that were cut off? If you do I don't see why not but make sure you get a real good welder to do it. That's one of the main reasons I don't like lift kits that you have to cut parts off of your suspension for the reason you may have to or want to go back to stock.

I remember when I had my 87 Chevy with 10" suspension lift 3" body lift and 42" Swampers it came to the point where I was going to get rid of it years later and get something else I couldn't sell it as nobody really wanted it but I saved all my stock suspension parts and returned it back to stock including taking the body lift off and putting the stock tires, shocks and rims back on and sold it in a week.

It's always a good idea to keep stock parts. I have all mine, but could never see me going back down.

Op, check out GMFullsize. Plenty of guys go back to stock. It's really as easy as bolting the original stuff back on.
