2003 HD owners beware!

Recommended Posts

I own a 2003 1500 HD.  I have found several trucks on lots that are 1500 HD as well as 2500 HD (crew cab) trucks that indicate that they have the "Passenger Sensing System" on their sticker.  THE TRUCKS DO NOT HAVE THIS OPTION!  No HD comes with this option.  I have a month long situation with GM on this. It's still on-going.  Please check your stickers and read your owners manuals.  On your sticker it will be stated in the options ( LS, LT) listing under "ISRV mirror"  If it states your truck has this "Passenger Sensing System"  and your rear view mirror does not say it on the mirror, Please contact customer service.  The 800 number in the back of the owners manual.   Please DO NOT put a child up front if you think you have this system.  As of January 10th 2003 there are still trucks on the lot with this deceptive sticker.  Please pass the word.  I'll try to keep you posted as to what happens.

Thanks,  1500 HD Crew Cab ;without a smart air bag

If this applys to you? I would love to hear from you! :wtf:

My '03 2500HD built in October doesn't have it.  I was kinda peaved about it because GM never stated it wasn't going to be in all pickups.  It's a GMC and nothing I saw made me believe I did have it.  Maybe only Chevy documentation did.

The dealer was able to determine which lockout switch I need based on the VIN number.  I haven't had the time to get it and am unsure how to disable the system to plug in the switch.  Just my luck I'd set off the bag plugging the switch in.

Keep us posted.

 Well here is an update.  After much discussion with GM this is a summery of where I stand.  According to GM I did NOT pay for the Passenger Sensing System.  It is however listed on my sticker under the title “Installed By Manufacturer”.  I asked them if I paid for power windows and cruise control?  They said that I did.  I asked for them to show me how they determined that I paid for all the items listed under “Installed By Manufacturer” except for the Passenger Sensing System.  They could not!  They faxed me a letter sent out on September 16,2002 stating that this was a miss-print and that the trucks do not have this system.  They then tell me they started correcting the stickers on October 27, 2002.  (Why the wait?) Every time I talk to them they offer me more and more.  They can’t seem to understand, that an important part of this to me, is to notify ALL the 2003 1500 & 2500 Crew Cab HD owners that they do NOT have this installed on their truck..  I believe someone’s child will have to die in order for something to be done.  They have offered me $500, then an extended warranty, then $600, then they offered to buy my truck back until I told them of the aftermarket options I had purchased for it.  HAS ANYONE BEEN SENT THIS LETTER BY GM?  Please e-mail me at :[email protected]  .  I want what is right and nothing more.  I want the system installed in my truck and all other HD owners to be aware.  I’ll keep you posted.

Hey White Chey I looked over my sticker list and it showed the ISVR mirror listed on mine. So I looked in my owners manual and found where the indicator should be on the rear view mirror, hmmm mine did not have that.  So I called the salesperson because I distinctly remember him telling me about this feature.  He told me that no the mirror will not show it that the seat has a built in senser which determins if there is something in the seat over 50 lbs that it will automatically turn off.  Anything over 50 lbs and it will turn off??? :werd: Sp not sure what to think on this here. Have you found out any more? Also I have the line sticker/build sheet not sure how to read it all but it has a build date of Friday 10/25/02 two days before they told you they corrected the misprint. Well not sure it the friday build is good or bad you know what they say. ???
