GM-Trucks.com will drive the 2014 Silverado in May

Recommended Posts

If you get a chance to do all cab types, I'd like to know if the reg cab will have lots of storage room behind the seats like the F150 and Ram do. My next truck will likely be a reg cab but if GM doesn't offer decent storage I might have to look elsewhere.

Since U will be hopefully towing with these trucks try to find out what axle ratio's are in the trucks?

I am hopeful for a 3.73 option, but I bet 3.42's will be it.

I'm kinda curious about overall thoughts on the new control layout in the cabin vs. the GMT-900's (soft keys for steering wheel controls, smaller 4x4/headlight controls, larger center console buttons for gloves, ect) and performance of the upgraded Chevy MyLink system (navigation too if possible)/iPhone Bluetooth integration

When you get back I'd like to hear that you drove a Denali or High Country ....

You mean ZR2? :jester:

Won't happen this trip...

Definitely! This should be no problem to find out.

Is there some meat behind the photos of the Silverado with bead locks that was circulating a while back?

From what I hear, yes.

I am considering a '14 GMC X cab with 6.5' bed.

My current 07 crew cab leaves me wanting a bigger bed.

I am wanting to know how much bigger the '14 X cab is compared to the current X cab because the current X cab is way too small.

GM has said that the "new" crew cab is the same physical size as the outgoing crew cab, but it "feels" roomier because they moved the B pillar forward a couple of inches. I bet the extended cab (now called double cab) is the same size as the outgoing extended cab. GM didn't make a huge deal about larger cabs, just that they "feel roomier". If you have a SLT GMT 900 with the SUV dash, the new trucks may have a inch or two more leg room since the new dash is now mounted higher up in the cabin like the SLE GMT900 dash.

You can also get the '14 as a crew cab with the 6.5' too. although I know that many garages wont fit that length of truck.
