Rough ride after body lift install?

Recommended Posts

I just finished installing a 3" performance accessories body lift on my 02 Silverado and just took it for a test drive to make sure everything was alright. I also installed energy suspension body mount (cab) bushings since I was there anyways. I'm going down the road and I noticed the ride was a lot rougher and shakier than it was previous to the install. I only drove a couple miles but it was driving me crazy. I was wondering if this is mainly just from the polyurethane bushings not absorbing much vibration? I do not see what could have changed much during the body lift install other than the steering extension adapter, but even then it shouldn't make a difference.

Anyways, if it is the polyurethane bushings, will this eventually go away after they break in, or will it always be there? Anyone who has had experience with the cab mount polyurethane bushings and could be of help, it would greatly be appreciated.

Yup its the poly bushings, nope it wont go away. Poly's don't absorb jolts and vibrations like rubber does. Had poly's all around on my old z28, made they car handle great but rode very stiff and uncomfortable but it wasn't my daily driver so no big deal. Poly's aren't really a good idea for body mounts in my opinion, your gonna need to go back to rubber if it bugs you that bad.

Now the question is, where do I get new rubber bushings? The upper bushings I removed were starting to deteriorate but the lower bushing was completely gone, I could actually remove them by hand, so nothing was holding them on. I will gladly go back and replace them cause the truck is a DD so it is gonna drive me crazy until I can put an end to it.
