It first appeared in V8 W-body cars like the Grand Prix GXP and Impala SS from 2005-07/08. I forget the exact year range now. AFM was new to the trucks with the 900-series but it had been around for several years by then.

Yup. My parents 07 Monte Carlo SS (5.3L LS4) has AFM too. It's really clunky in their car. Only has 45,000 miles on it, and it has pretty bad lifter noise when first started. Mom also complains about it jerking at different times while driving. The jerking is related to the AFM. Does it whenever it switches from 4 to 8 mode. Never jerks when I drive it around in 3rd gear with AFM locked out.

Anyone put one of these either the the one that lets it in V4 mode 90% of the time or the AFM eliminator version on a 2014 GMC/Chevy truck yet?

Just curious since its a new engine and a 6 speed tranny now.

Very interested in both devices and how they do with the new 2014 setup?

Me too! My 2014 Sierra comes in this week. I'm very interested but not sure I want to be the test mule lol

I was their BETA tester. Got 50% off too. :-) It works great on a 2014 Silverado LTZ. I've been running with it for about 3 weeks now.

Update:

I drove my truck for the first time yesterday with the Range V8 instlled..... WOW drives like a different truck. No shuttering, shaking etc. According to the computer, gas mileage is the same. I did watch the instant fuel mileage and make sure it never kicked in the v4 mode, which it never did. This device is well worth the money. I will end up hunting this weekend putting a few hundred miles on the truck and will update more with mileage.

Now that is great news! That much of a change should convince a few folks who have been sitting on the fence about disabling the AFM.

Nevertheless my engine needs to be rebuilt.

I just spend "a few" grands for a trans repair.

So my down payment for a new truck tock a pretty good hit.

I think it is "ok" to say that a trans with 190k's on it is due for an overhoal.

But still it is one more reason for GM to build more durable trucks and parts.....

I was about to close a deal on a new truck.....now I'll have to drive my old truck a little longer... :) .

I hope the engine will last that long. Since it isn't burning so much oil anymore...

so long

I have the 2014 sierra. Put my Range in after 100 miles and after about a week I started getting warning codes on start up. 'service stabilitrak' and 'service brake assist'. I cannot be certain this is related to the Range, but it doesn't look good. Especially because my 2007 Chevy got those warning codes which is why I bought the Range. It is in the dealer right now and they are reading the codes to see what is wrong. I will reply back if I have further info but I fear the Range has put a bug in the brand new engine.
