I'm joining you in obscenities. Mine are echoing around the neighborhood ... :fume:

Finally got the new CORRECT accumulator for the Volvo A/C overhaul. Every single friggin part on this thing is made in china now. Nothing fits right. Everything was a battle. Probably took 45 minutes just to install the accumulator. What a friggin joke! :banghead: Delco unit too.

To top it all off, I saw residual oil & dye in the outlet when I uncapped it. WTF. Probably gifted with a return. Wish I had checked that before I dumped my oil and dye in and installed it on the inlet side. No going back now. Vacuuming as I type ....

Had to bend a few more lines, and weld a bracket to the frame to keep the mickey-moused lines from vibrating themselves in half in a couple years. What a battle!

You know Volvo is owned by the Chinese now, right? My AC delco accumulator isn't quite right either, the line is a bit too short.

I think my system "equalized/evened out" last few days AC seemed to lose a little power, vent temps were in the 50s(normal by the GM manual) I hooked it up and was a few psi under what it has been, so I let it drink the last few ounces(maybe 3? It sucked it down like it was thirsty for it) of 134a I have. Then I checked vent temps and they dropped to 30 again.

I looked all over for leaks and couldn't find any. Saw a tiny bit of green around a new part weld so I cleaned it off and ran the car for a few minutes and checked again and it didn't reappear)

HA! That'll do it every time. Hottest I've ever seen in MA was 102° once back in the 70's or early 80's. In Phoenix 114° was the hottest I had ever experienced. No A/C in my car at the time either. I was 17 years younger then, though.

Yeah, seems everything is owned by them these days. Main reason I don't buy OEM anything. It's all the same.

Can't really go by pressures - those are just a guide to let you know if something is wrong, like if the low side goes into a vacuum, you start looking for a restriction in the orifice or TXV, & if the high is too high for the ambient temperature, and the low side is good, and vent temps are good to rising, you know there's an airflow issue across the condenser. Pressure will always change with the temperature, so they won't tell you the full story. Charging should be done by weight using an accurate scale. Can also go by feel on the inlet and outlet of the evaporator. When they're equal, or outlet slightly cooler than inlet, you're done.

Just vacuumed the system for 35 minutes. Held vac for 15 minutes, so I threw some 134a in to pressure test. Used my Bacharach sniffer & Windex (shitty glass cleaner, but excellent leak-finder) - checked out good! Then recovered the 134a (loooong process to get refrigerant to boil off out of the accumulator), and hooked up the vacuum pump again. Ready for R12! Might let the vac run all night, and charge up in the morning. A little too cool out there right now to get any indicator of performance. Was 70° last I checked, and falling.

Took a pic of the iced up accumulator as the 134a boiled off. Ice was 1/8" thick after 10 minutes! Held my 1500w heat gun less than an inch from the side, and it wouldn't even melt through. Refrigerant is an interesting substance.

Used to love night riding out there. I'll never forget rolling down the 101 with a group of guys from school, and passing a digital bank sign that said 99° at 1am. Absolutely loved it. T-shirt only, and not a hint of chill in the air.

Awesome sunsets too.

Pretty much moved in here. Nice to be back in NH. Today has been beautiful but Thursday when I unloaded it was over 80 out. Loading and then unloading the moving truck kicked my butt. Thankfully Lowe's got the washer and dryer here the day after I bought them cause I thought I'd have plenty of clothes to get through a few days but the loading/unloading got me to sweat through a few shirts. My manager came out to help me unload Thursday and neither of us are prime examples of physical fitness so I joked that rather than exercise, I'll just never move again.

Pro tip: If you are going to swap out coolers make sure you still have the stock backplate sitting around somewhere. I think i tossed it a while back because I didn't remember wtf is was. Now I need it haha.

Current coolers on the left with their replacements on the right. The bottom left is what has come on AMD processors for probably a decade now. Or something similar, I've got 2 or 3 of these thing lying around somewhere don't remember which is which.

I only use water coolers now, the two times I used the big air ones I had problems with motherboards, was thinking the weight was causing problems. Although I guess I have bad luck because my current rig, for years, won't always send a video signal on boot up. I swapped video cards, and on my second corsair pro series power supply. I did have a cheaper thermaltake PS for a while that booted fine, but wonder if it was a fluke.

Back when I lived in Arizona, we didn't own a car with A/C in it!! My Chevelle had wing vents, which were the greatest thing, I put one of those plastic cup holders in the window channel and filled a cup with ice rolled up drivers window and rolled down rear passenger window and had instant home made ac it work great!!! I saw lots of days back in the 70's of 115-125 degrees out there. :jester:

I'm too lazy and cheap for water cooling. I know there are AIO solutions but I don't trust them and pumps fail. Then again fans fail as well which is why I switched out my hyper 212 with nutjob fans on them. One or both of the nutjob fans were starting to rattle, maybe the bearings or whatever internal thing they use were going bad. Either way I wanted more cooling than the stock 212 fan(s) gave and quieter. Running prime95 now and this Noctua is definitely WAAAAAAAAAY quieter than 2 120mm fans spinning at 3k. I think even quieter than the stock hyper 212 fan at 100% as well. Air is just easier and can be every bit as quiet as the AIO water solutions. With the exact same fan profile running I believe my cpu is 3-4C cooler. Probably should have ran prime95 for a quick refresher of max temps before swapping. Hopefully when I swap the media pc cooler in a little bit it's quieter, which is all I really want, if it's cooler that's a plus. Random fan noises while watching tv seem to annoy me more than I thought I would. Shockingly the quad core runs hotter than the dual core :-p

As far as the no signal for video my first thought would be PSU or GF but you already said you swapped those out.

*edit*

Great the holes on the AMD bracket don't match up with the back plate holes. Time to find out how easy it is to return stuff to newegg.

Yeah those vents were great. Another screwing we got from automakers. In monsoon season I'd open the corner window vents a crack, and open both floor vents - I'd have a hurricane blowing through there. Made it tolerable.

I miss those features!
