SnakeEyeSS
Anton Yelchin, the new Checkov in Star Trek alternative universe movies, died this morning. Looks like he left his car in neutral and it crushed him against a brick mailbox.

SnakeEyeSS
How in the world does that happen? Right now I can only find that it's some kind of Grand Cherokee, maybe the rotary dial wasn't turned enough but he thought it was. He walked behind it(maybe to check the mail?). His friends found him there (they went to check since he never showed up and wasn't answering) and it was still running. My guess it crushed the legs and busted the artery, or maybe he couldn't breathe from the pressure on him. They've been forced to recall it though because most of the population is filled with morons who can't be bothered to understand how their vehicle works. That's probably what happened here.

Conky Conky
So my 1994 5.7 TBI Silverado finally needs a radiator at 318 km so I have a new 4core rad that Is for a 1995 454 2500 they rad is brand new got a great deal on it. Now what I need to know is it looks like my stock 5.7tbi fan shroud will not work. As my truck had a 2core rad. Now from what I hear a 6.5 diesel fan shroud will work. Can anyone confirm that I found a good used one I can get for like $20 but it's almost an hour away.
SnakeEyeSS
And, of course, I haven't heard anything from the AC shop, that said the car would be diagnosed today. So I'll probably go get it tomorrow if I haven't heard anything from them, they have had it 11 hours. I didn't realize AutoZone rents out vacuum pumps. Crap, I'll probably just replace the lines and accumulator and every o ring that is in betweem and see if that does it. Only things left would be the evaporator since it's the only thing that I wouldn't see dye leaking from. Would have started today if I had known. KARNUT
We flew to our condo in myrtle beach got a good deal on a package with a midsize rental car. The rental was an Toyota Corolla was hoping for an Elantra. The car isn't bad I was a little surprised the cvt trans is am amusing. The biggest surprise is the 0-60 acceleration, you really have to be prepared far the lack of take off power or die. The cvt trans does seemed to help with passing power. The 2010 Mazda 3 we had, had the same HP but was a lot quicker, it must of had agressive gearing it still got pretty good gas milage. We can't help but be amused when we hit the gas it sounds like stepping on a cats tail.
Jsdirt
Great analogy! My brother hates the transmission in his '15 Subaru Outback. Has the CVT - just feels odd all the time. The 4-cylinder really lacks power in that model too. Very anemic. About like our 114 HP Volvo 940 with the Red Block 2.3 . He gets a little better mileage though, but not very much. Couple MPG. And I paid about 35x less for the Volvo .... Edited June 21, 2016 by Jsdirt
kstruckcountry
I've gotten 30 in my mom's Outback with regular driving, which I think is good for something that size with AWD and more ground clearance than many new pickups. The R motor would be worth it for me, but most people don't really need the power. I've spent some time in a Legacy with the same motor, and I liked it a lot better. The cvt is something you get used to. They're banned in F1 due to the performance potential. Might be one in a pickup before long. Jsdirt
We've got some pretty crappy fuel here in MA. We're usually 3 mpg down on the rest of the country outside of the Northeast.
