My whirlpool is 10 and I think that is pushing it for a modern appliance so I'm not going to repair only it literally is a seal I see blown out causing the leak.

Also, seems like HE washers still suck compared to ones with agitators.

The review back it up, many bad reviews on HE washers are from people saying they hate how poorly the HE cleans, many good reviews on traditional ones talk about how much better it cleans compare to their previous HE one.

Apparently, you still need plenty of water to clean dirty clothes [emoji23]

We have a Bosch front loader HE and it's industrial strength lol. Washes clothes pretty well, can't use the quick wash feature too often cause it will cause clothes to get shredded. Especially right in the crotchal region of my pants [emoji23] [emoji23]

I went with a just released (NO reviews) top loader HE Maytag.

Why? The reviews of the previous year top one are stellar(all other brands seem to have a flaw...Samsung's rust, lg hAve hyper sensitivity on the balance sensor....) This one is slotting in above last year's best and was 20% off mark, and maytag has a standard 10 year warranty on bowl and motor, Industry best, and they claim best cleaning. My local stores don't carry Bosch(they used to....not sure why not anymore) so I didn't even look into those, need one asap.

Still a little leery, I have NEVER met anyone or read a review that said " my new HE cleans better than an agitator", but this maytag claims its figured out how to clean with HE so we shall see!! The biggest local!appliance store was on the news recently basically telling people that front loaders still aren't sorted out properly, still eventually suffer from mold, mildew, and putrid smells (if door isn't left ajar faster every wash to air out). Amazed to hear a store is publicly trashing their highest dollar washers!

So if you have a front loader, leave the door open to air out! Second time I have heard from a reputable source it WILL happen if you don't air it out.

Can't leave the clothes in there longer than 8 hours they start to smell. As soon as they're done I throw mine into the dryer and leave the washer door cracked open to air out

Same way with HE top loader. Always had to leave the door up to let it air out

Same here

Hmm wonder what's so special about the HE washers? The old agitator washers you could leave your clothes in there over a day and no smell. At least from what I can remember

I think they drained better

I found out how to not let them smell. With 5 in our house (3 of them being the type that puke on themselves, eat dirt, use their sleeve as a tissue and forget to remind us that they need to go to the bathroom), there is a load started every single day. We found out that the smell of the dirty clothes will quickly consume the house unless it is managed daily!

Crazy how the combined weight of the 3 lil ones doesn't even add up to my wife, yet they are the worst offenders when it comes to the laundry department.

Thought we broke the washer a while back. Turns out a baby sock got lodged into the impeller that is attached to the motor. Figured it was a fluke til it happened 3 times in a month. I'm pretty much a certified washer repairman at this point.....

My new maytag has an open air gap. No need to open the door.

Front loaders need an air tight seal on the door, so they don't leak

The cons on the he top loaders are they might not fill to the top of clothes with water, some brands are particularly bad.
