Well I got my mortgage on usda, so I'd say I'm in a rural area.

We dont have cable TV or piped natural gas out here. From what I understand they only added piped water about 15 years ago. A lot of the older homes around here have wells.

Funny thing is I can hit the interstate in just 10 miles from here.

I at least have natural gas. No sewer though. Funny the newer housing tract across the street has cable and sewer, but they wont bring it across the street

Oh its infuriating isn't it? I have comcast cable NEXT DOOR and comcast wont run it over here.

I've been saying for months I'm gonna go over there and tell the guy I'll pay his bill if he'll let me bury a patch cable from his house to my shop. Then I'd run a router in my shop and run a patch down to the house.

We're talking 500' to the main pole where it's at. I called comcast they said $25,000 to run to my house.. What??

I have ATT Uverse.. 12 meg.. its fast enough.

No cable TV but.. I don't miss that. My parents have direct TV and the commercials are so long I forget what show we're even watching!

Im in the same boat, but across the street. When we built 12 years ago Cox wanted $16,000 to bring us cable. When i moved out here a year ago i called them and they started the process but we are low priority. I moved into my grandmother's house. I have 18 meg from AT&T. Fiber is being installed down the road but it is only 50 meg. I had 60 prior to living here

Fiber stops for me down at the elementary school about 3 miles down the road. It's all copper on the poles out there.

There's 7 houses on my road and a neighborhood off of the road on the other side with only about 5 houses in it right now. They're building more houses but comcast claims they will "never" service my side of the street because they have to replace the power poles and refuse to do so for 7 homes.

All the same.. as long as I dont have to use dialup or satellite I guess I'm ok. I pay ATT and they keep the service on so.. thats all I can ask for right now.

12 meg is fine for online gaming, downloading with a little patience, and netflix for 1 TV or HD youtube so.. I'm good. It just irks me that 500 feet away is like a 35 meg pipe that I can't jump on. Working in IT.. speed is more than just an appliance, its one of my tools.

They are bringing fiber down vineland from the northeast corner of Breckenridge and vineland to the nursery. They trenched in front of my house. the housing tract across the way was built after the 4 on vineland. It was stage 3 of that tract which is why the cable would be so expensive. it wasnt built up there yet

Today heard an auto journalist refer to the new mazda 3 feeling like it is a reincarnation of the e30 BMW. Oh boy, that got me interested, I still miss the glory days of my former one. I literally drive it until the chassis started wearing out.

Just heard a relatives's ex hired a new lawyer, who was fired from a prosecution job because she tries to prosecute the same person twice for the same crime, didn't know about that little thing called Double Jeopardy. I learned that in what, middle school?

That is some kind of special.

The counties do the same thing with school buses, contract out. Found this out on our summer trips where we'd be getting passed by school buses in the mountains lol.

I don't know about y'all but we have a commercial property that is grandfathered into still being allowed to have a well. The drain field went out on it or something (can't remember) and the county was trying to tell us we'd have to hook up to county utilities. The price for that was $20k+. Thankfully we are working to just repair the drain field but trying to get one part of the local govt to communicate to the other is just beyond frustrating. One department is saying that because the building is old it's grandfathered in and doesn't have to be put on county utilities, while another is telling us it has to be put on them. The one won't call the other back and the one won't believe us when we tell them the other said we don't need to be put on utilities.

Yet my friends still wonder why I hate the govt so much...

If I remember right the exception to that is if one is for a state charges and the other is federal. Then again I doubt if it would be the same prosecutor for state and federal.

Upgraded to the iPhone 6 yesterday it's so thin it doesn't feel like I'm holding anything.

Congrats on upgrading to a 90s model android for 7x the price

I dont get the new iphone 6 plus really. I saw a movie preview of this petite woman holding one up to her face. At what point are people going to realize that holding a giant tablet to their face looks silly?

I said that until I got my 5.5" phone. Also realized I rarely call anyone. I'd be shocked if I use 300 minutes in a year.
