Idle rpm

What should a 96 chevy 350 vortec idle at? Mine seems to idle anywhere from 600 ish to 1200 rpm is that normal?

Is the 1200 startup idle and 600 when warmed up?

Well it's kind of odd because being cold or warm it doesn't seem to matter sometimes it's high and sometime it's low

So today I was at the burgar king window waiting for my food and noticed it was idling at 1000 in park and the motor was warmed up. Then when I pushed on the brake fairly hard the rpm went down to about 650. Would this indicate something goin on with my brake booster? They seem to work fine though.
