opions of crotch rockets driving aggressively

I live in/near an area known for 'scenic rides' and 'poker runs' that go by near every weekend during nice weather. Ive had it happen several times where the Harley riders are three abreast, one fully into the on coming lane. Yeah, I really enjoy having to take the ditch because of em'. I don't get it. Is it a power trip? Some kind of magical touring moment being symbolised by running the big bad truck/car off the road? Not all of us on 4 wheels are the enemy.

Best ones for me so far are the two times Ive been chased down for using my windshield washers. Seriously. One dude turned around and followed me until I stopped. Second time the dude was behind me. Good g**, now I gotta watch when I wash dead bugs off the windshield. Thats what I was told. LMAO.

The groups of 20+ riders driving 20-30 under the speed limit and not letting anyone pass, those irk me a heckuva a lot more than the go-fast bikes.

These activities are pretty common around here. Police will NOT do anything because usually some of the riders ARE the police.

Sorry but if someone is in my lane, I'm not moving over, that's putting myself at risk having to swerve. It isn't so bad out here in Michigan but living in NH, I had to deal with Bike Week in Laconia every year. NH route 107 passes through the town I lived in and that was a road tons of bikers would pick up at the Mass border (also stopping to take their helmets off cause NH has no law for them) and ride up to Weirs cause most of it is a nice riding road I suppose but god did some of them ride like assholes. Sorry, they can be weekend tough guys all they want but I'm not going to give in if their action is putting my safety at risk. Though I will say that I do try to pay attention and not use the windshield washers when they're behind me.

Sorry to hear about the losses in this thread, but I will never like the "squids" as their called that ruin my driving experience I cannot stand the bikers around here specifically because they think they can do anything. While driving my Buick ive had several coming at me in my lane and they weren't passing!! Just cruising 4 wide down a two lane road, I didn't swerve any if those times and needless to say I scared them straight... Never play chicken with a 96 Buick when you're on a street bike.. I hope they learned their lesson because I won't hesitate to do it again in a truck.

WTF people like you that make me sick. Intentionally trying to scare or bump bikers? jesus effing christ

Oh so you're saying its perfectly OK to cruise in the oncoming lane into traffic for no reason?? So I have to swerve and possibly endanger my life because if some ass thinking his little biker gang owns the road?? I don't give a flying you know what about what you think of me I refuse to put my car into a ditch/trees while he rides on without issue and getting away with it. No effing way.

she was not bumping drivers the bikes where playing chicken with her and she stayed on her side of the road. She should not have to move off the road because bikers coming her way want to take up the whole road.

I thought of something funny you know the big green movement imagine smart cars acting like biker groups/gangs. 3 smart cars driving side by side down the road and acting all tough. Then they all pull into a tea shop with there hemp clothes.

I won't call them gangs but Priuses (Prii? Prius'?) travel in packs, always. When you see one, another will shortly follow. My brother pointed it out and it has unnerved me ever since.

It's still your duty as a driver if you see them coming to try and avoid a collision, no matter how dumb they should be. Its drivers like you that would try to cut me off when I would try and merge in front of them or be in the neighboring lane on my GSXR. You're gonna kill someone, plain and simple.

Your just as dumb as some of these riders.

Sorry but if someone comes into my lane, I'm not going to risk departing from it unless I am certain I have someplace safe to go. All bikers have this holier than thou attitude but I've found the ones who have it the worst at the idiots who try to intimidate drivers by pulling the crap Sarah described. And while it might scare the soccer mom, I know if their little stunt backfires, I'll still be driving home that night. I give the responsible riders their space but the ones who try the badass act aren't going to gain an inch of ground from me.

People that break check most of the time keep tail gators of there back. This can cause a pile up but for some reason I can see how I would want to brake check if I had a tail gator on my back . The way I see it Sarah is just not wanting to get pushed around by a biker who is breaking the law on purpose . All she is doing is keeping on her side and the motor biker has plenty of time to get in his own lane than instead of hanging out in on coming traffic . Its kinda like natural selection if your on a bike and want to hang out in oncoming traffic your going to die. People that dont ride bikes generally dont like bikers because there is just so many of them that dont give a care about anyone around them. The biker coming in sarah's lane has no respect for anyone and people that dont treat others with no respect get the same treatment . If sarah moved over into the ditch the bikers would just laugh and continue on to the next person. At least if the bikers are going to play chicken let them play it with a truck then only one party is most likely going to be killed.

Well put Morgan1986. I've been in several situations (bikers or otherwise) and I always try to avoid a collision but there is times where I've been given little choice of hitting someone from behind or swerving and going head on with a vehicle or taking that chance on the ditch. Each situation will be different and when dealing with idiotic drivers (regardless of vehicle) you have to do the best you can. If you have the time weigh your options. My rule of thumb is have a strategy in mind at all times so "if he does this, I will do that" or "if I can't stop in time, I will...." Something my Mother taught me loooooong ago.

So if someone brake checks you or brakes suddenly in front of you, or you gonna roll right into them? It sounds like you just like to pull your little power trip with bikers because you know you're not the one thats gonna end up dead. I've seen semi's do the same thing and straddle lane and not give a **** while trying to pass slower rigs...do you maintain your lane then when you have a 50,000lb semi on a collision course with you? Get off your high horse...seriously.

Maybe its because I don't live in the city, but I see a lot more **** car drivers than bikers here in NC.

Nope. I always try to keep proper following distance so if someone does get on the brakes for any reason, I have all the space I need to slow down without swerving. Swerving is dangerous as hell and I see it as a last chance sort of thing.

As for dealing with big rigs, they can play their games but even my truck will leave any of them in the dust, if they try merging over I'll just bury the pedal and hang on. I had one cut me off last week but that's all they can do, most of them are limited to 65 or so out here when you can get away with 75-80 in most areas they're never around for long.

And it isn't a power trip with bikers, it's not allowing myself to be pushed around by some idiot with a death wish.

I love how you trivialize another life so easily. Please go.

And JSYK, people who ride dont like car drivers, because 1) most are ignorant and dont pay attention, and 2) many are assholes. Road rage is a dangerous game to play, when you are trying to cut off or pull in front of a bike.

Life is a precious gift to us and I love my life and love my friends lives but if a guy wants to discard other people around them of there safety then that persons life is a trivial little thing to me and I will give the same respect for the person that puts others at risk. If a biker or anyone that wants to put others at risk I will treat him with the same respect. People that dont respect other peoples lifes there live is a trivial thing for me. I will not say that persons life is a precious thing if that person puts others in danger.

Not around here. I do 2-4000 miles a month because of my job and I've had lots of late night rides home. They all seem to be limited and then clog up the passing lane when one tries to pass the other with a half mile an hour advantage. The damn truckers piss me off more than the bikers. lol They're horrible drivers out here. The one that cut me off last week didn't even signal. It pisses me off cause I have several friends who are drivers and they take safety real serious but out here all bets are off.

I have been riding motorcycles only since the spring of 2005. I own a 2003 Kawasaki Concours, (sport touring bike) and a 2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650 (dual sport). I seldom ride more than about 5 MPH over the speed limit and then only on a lonely road with no traffic. I have put a little over 80,000 miles between the two machines and I have not crashed yet. I have no use for a sport bike because they don't do what I need them to do (go long distance and carry luggage, etc.).

Motorcycles and large vehicles do not mix well, but that fact is that both are here to stay, and we need to get along. I live out in the boonies and if I wasn't a vegetarian I could live on road kill deer. You can’t go five miles out here without seeing one in the ditch. And it isn't just motorcyclists that get killed by hitting deer. There are quite a few fatal car vs. deer collisions out here also. In 1994 I hit a pregnant doe with my 1984 T-bird and did $2000 damage to the front end. I have not hit a deer with a motorcycle yet, but I have had some close calls.

It's my decision as to what risk I am willing to take for myself, but I try to mitigate risks by NEVER riding without ATGATT (for you non-riders, that means All The Gear All The Time; gloves, boots, armored jacket and pants and full-bucket helmet). Lane splitting is NOT legal in Washington State, and I would not do it even if it were.

Note that most of the car vs. motorcycle collisions in the first posted video were not the fault of the motorcycle riders. Having said that, most fatal motorcycle crashes are single vehicle crashes, meaning the rider lost control for some reason, usually speed related. One of the next biggest risks is the left-turning vehicle, the driver of which doesn’t see or doesn't care and crosses the path of the motorcyclist. I have had two situations where vehicles (one Toyota Land Cruiser and one Ford pickup) intentionally turned in front of me (the Ford driver flipped me the finger as he pulled out from a stop sign in front of me while I was doing the speed limit of 45 MPH, but he didn't see the State Trooper three cars behind me, who DID see him, and pulled him over for the violation). I also darned near had a head-on collision last fall when an idiot motorcyclist came into my lane to pass a car on the outside of a blind curve. I reacted by going onto the shoulder and avoided the hit. Just a reflex.

The motorcycle riders on the forums I hang out on say pretty much the same things about people in pickup trucks, how they seem to think they own the road and are just a danger to themselves and others. I can attest personally to the danger a motorcyclist faces from a truck with a 12" lift and super-bright headlights riding my ass on a rainy night, blinding me with his nifty laser-beams and not giving a damn about running me into the ditch. I also fully realize the danger that road-racers cause to others, not just themselves. If someone wants to play racer-boy they should go to the track, and not risk themselves and others on public streets. There is plenty of room for ill feelings on both sides, and justifiably so, as there are plenty of bad operators on both sides.

I fully agree that no one has the right nor privilege to endanger others by being an idiot. There will always be someone different than you who drives a different type of vehicle or wears different clothing or goes slow when you want to go fast or vice versa. There will always be someone not like you for you to cast hatred at.
