Clutch problems

Recommended Posts

On my 63 C-10 I have blown the clutch and it needs replaced .

My hardest part has been finding a new clutch for it i go to the auto parts places and they just say nothing that old .

Does anything newer interchange with this at all?

You might want to try a better parts store such as Napa or a Big A.  The chain stores like Checker, Advanced Auto, and Autozone don’t exactly employee the brightest of folks that take the time to open a book as they rely solely on Triad.  Triad is the main electronic parts catalog that most of the quickly part retailers use and it only goes back to about 1978.  You need to find a part store that will take the time to actually open a book and do some research.

Obtaining a clutch for an old GM is not hard.  Heck, my dad just got a clutch for our 63’ Corvair van from Napa.  If Napa had a clutch for that weird thing they shouldn’t have a problem getting one for a 63’ Chevy truck.

Larry's right.

The clutch that you need is a dang small block Chevy clutch. There's nothing fancy about it.

I've found when you're dealing with the "discount Chains" like Autozone and the like, you need to know exactly what you're after. Those people usually don't know squat about cars and trucks.
