Lift Advice on 2wd Yukon

Recommended Posts

I just put new shocks on my 2000 2wd Yukon and it lowered the back end so it is even with the front. now, i think the entire truck is too low for my taste. I am interested in lifting the front and back evenly maybe about 3 inches. How can I do this most effectively? I'm not looking to replace shocks or anything major if I can avoid it. I've read about adjusting torsion bars in front, putting on coil spacers etc.  Any suggestions?  I'm not too familiar with all this stuff.

also, i don't want to do anything that will sacrifice ride TOO much, and I don't want to do anything that will lead to costly suspension/steering repairs in the future.

Changing shocks should not have had any affect on the ride height of the vehicle, since they don't support the weight of the vehicle. Do you have any type of "load leveling" option on your truck? You can get around 1 to 2 inches of lift in the front by cranking up the torsion bars. You might check with Daystar to see if they make a coil spring spacer for the rear springs. How much lift did you have in mind? You can get a 3 inch body lift for you Yukon but I am not sure if anyone makes a suspension lift for the 4x2's. I have read that lift kit for the 4x4 Heavy Duty trucks also work on the 4x2's because the suspension is the same (torsion bars). Since the 4x2 Yukon/Tahoe suspension is the same as the 4x4 Yukon's (torsion bars), the same may be true for them.  But the again, you said you didn't want to get too complicated.
