service manager caught in a lie

Took my truck to Wes Haney Chevrolet in Live Oak, Fl. to get tires rotated and TPMS sensors recalibrated. I leave it there all day and pick it up after I get off work. I show up and still have the dirt ring around the rear tires where I almost got stuck in sugar sand the night before. I walk in and ask the service manager if the tires were rotated and he says yes. I give the benefit of doubt, pay and leave. I get home and look at tires more closely. The front ones were still rounded somewhat. I call him and ask him if he actually saw the tires being rotated. He again says yes and he even added that he verified the TPMS sensors were recalibrated. I tell him I am not calling him a liar but am 100% sure they were not rotated and explained to him the ring aound the rear tires and the front tires. He tells me he will make it right. He wantes me to bring it in the next day or he can come pick it up. I told him I wasn't mad about $13 but was pissed for being lied to right to my face and I would not bring it back to him. He says he is sending me a refund check in the mail. Suggestions on how to handle this would be appreciated. If that was my wife she would not have known the difference and lost $13. You do this to 100 people and that is $1300 worth of work claimed being done by the shop that isn't.

Contact Chevrolet. There is probably a corporate or custo9mer issue hotline listed in your manual. I don't know how they will handle it, but I had an issue with a Mazda dealership and they seem to take ripping off customers VERY seriously.

I would do just as you have done, call them out and never return, and make sure you spread the word as you are doing here. 1 pissed customer will cause them to lose 10 and in these times a loss of 10 customers will hurt

Wow that's not cool, you guys got me really questioning the alignment I had done.. Not meaning to hijack here but a month or two I had an alignment done and they say they can't do much because bfgs wear funny.. I have a copy of the numbers for each Tire they printed but how can I be sure? It still pulls to the right..

Sent from my truck using TAPATALK

To the OP, take it somewhere else.

Sarah, I'd take it somewhere else. Any good alignment shop can take care of pull and bad tire wear, assuming the frame isn't bent. Granted some vehicles don't hold alignment, and there normally will be some pull from the slope of the road.

Before blaming the alignment have the front tires put on the rear and the rear put on the front. Tires are not perfect.

OP, you did the right thing, my opinion is never go back.

Sarah, tires are funny sometimes, the other day I rotated my tires and before I did my steering wheel was dead on, then after the rotate the steering wheel was off center to the right. IDK how or why but the truck still goes down the road straight.

Sarah,

do the same what the manufacturers do.

Apply just a little dot of lacquer to the threads (dark nail lacquer will do).

Then you will see if they even have tried to adjust the alignment.

One more thing. I've been working in a tire shop for a while.

Sometimes it is really hard (if even possible) to balance wheels with big tires.

so long

Don't waste your time calling GM and speaking to anybody. I went through this when the dealership ruined my paint after a "free wash" that they were told I did not want after having the rear pinion seal replaced. The service manager lied to the GM rep. just like he lied to me. Best thing to do it get over it and find somewhere else to take your truck.

I'm not going to bother with anything was just wondering if they lied idk, I'm getting a lift anyway I'll just have to do it again anyway

I agree with the above posts. Rotate your tires from front to rear & see if that changes anything. Also, make sure the air pressure in all 4 of your tires is the same too.

You paid money for a tire rotation? No tire stores around you that do this for free?

Have always paid for rotating tires if I have taken it somewhere. Do it myself the majority of the time but have never recalibrated a TPMS sensor before. Have never had them on a truck before. Going to learn though.

Not many know this, but when you buy a new car/truck you can go to Discount & add the road hazard to the factory tires, which I THINK includes tire rotation then.

Chris

If not, pay for the first rotation, rest are free.

I've bought 24 tires from Discount Tire since Spring 2008. Very happy with service.
