Hypertech pp III

Recommended Posts

I'm supposed to be picking up my hypertech today after sk00l (friday).  I'm very excited about it, but i do have a question.  If i raise the rev limiter to 6300 rpms, am i putting my engine in any kind of jeopardy?  Also, does it really do anything for 87 octane, or should i start switching over to 93?  Thanks

Read their instructions carefully - note the part about taking little steps and trying it out.

You will need the 93 octane if you chose the performance curve, don't risk detonation - performance costs.

Be careful about taking the rev limiter too high - you only want to keep it from messing with your shift points at WOT - good luck

I recently pourchased one for my 6.0ltr.  The biggest thing that I like are the firmer shift points.  I did raise my redline/shift point to about 6000.  I do not think you gain anything by pushing the rpms higher than that on a stock motor.  From the HP/Torque curves that I have seen published, the power seems to decrease quickly by the time you are hitting 6K.

If you haven't purchased your new HPP+ yet, let me know. I have a new one that I purchased for my 02 Suburban and it will work on all 2002 trucks and all engine and tranny combinations.

Hypertech Part Number: 30012

I will make you a real good deal. Summit sells them for $350 plus shipping. If interested I will sell it for $290 plus shipping to you.

I used it and didn't like what I saw. I removed the programming so that it can be reused in any 2002 truck. Its basically brand new in the box with all the paper work. Its great for setting up oversized tires, gear changes, transmission shift points and shift firmness, a generic performance program that adds 4 degrees of timing to the base timing maps. It does nothing for adding blowers or any other mods.
