GMT900 1500 upper-n-lower ball joints???

Recommended Posts

What the heck was GM thinking when they made the ball joints on these trucks un greaseable and un replaceable without changing out the whole A-arm.

I know I have a long time to go before they will need to be replaced, but i'll be keeping my truck long enough that someday I will need to do them and I won't be taking it to garage (i think).

Just saying I think it was or is a stupid design.

Lucky you! I wondered if there is a way of getting grease into the ball joints to make them last longer.

Not sure if it would work but maybe a needle valve type attachment and pushing grease through the edge of the ball joint boot. I personally couldn't tell you if it would work to actually get grease into the joint but it's a thought. I've heard of people driling and tapping in a grease fitting but I'd be worried about metal bits being pushed into the joint or worse drilling too far in and damaging the joint.
