Borla exhaust help!

I have a 2009 cc 5.3l that I want to put exhaust on. My question is that I found a great deal on a system for a 2008 but borla says it won't fit, why? Does anyone know what the difference is?

If i remember correctly, 2009 was the year where they went to a different type of attachment to connect the pipe before the muffler to the header pipe behind the cats. 2008 used a flange on the ends of each pipe that was bolted together and 2009 used a curved band clamp that went over a type of ball and socket attachment. Sorry, don't know what the name for it is.

Yes, you can.

You will need to change the flange type after the third cat on your OEM pipe to make it work. Shouldn't be to much trouble seeing the Borla system comes with half of what you need.

You are going to have to cut the OEM pipe after the third cat. Weld on a short flange pipe that will match the connection on the Bolra system and problem solved.

If you can't weld or do it yourself, take it to an exhaust shop it shouldn't cost much for a small amount of work.

Or have the fancy end on the Borla cut off, and cut the stock pipe after the connection, and just slip them together. You may to expand one of the two ends, or use a short piece of pipe the match the ends up.

I love borla..the qaulity is great and the sound is unlike the rest.. I was going to say, Instead of a catback kit.. Why not just have the muffler installed in the factory location with minor modification and leave the factory tailpipe..
