lift question

Recommended Posts

well i kind of got the urge to lift my truck...VT_Z71's TOTM has inspired me.

i was thinking a 4inch lift and i have had my eye on the RC 4' NTD lift... now for the questions.. i cant seem to find a picture of a 03-07 silvy with this 4inch lift and 285's and was wondering if someone has a pic of one or happens to know where one is?

other question, i dont want aftermarket rims, i like the stock rims. will it look weird lifted with the factory offset? will the wheels be too far under the truck?

and would this lift make my truck look weird with my tire/wheel combo i have now? i dont want it to be unproportional.

and i have 3' keys in my truck.. would i have to take them out for the NTD lift?\

why is the RC NTD 4" and 6" the same price

final question, are there any other lift kits out there? i didnt look around too much but couldnt find much around 4 inch...

any help or suggestions appreciated

I too have the same questions you pose regarding this lift. I really hope someone can jump on here and answer some of these questions because I'd like to run stock wheels with the lift also, my concern is if stock 17's will allow the new knuckles to fit without spacers.

As for the 4" and 6" being the same price, I believe the 6" is just the 4" with the keys turned up. Kind of the same idea as the RC 5" and 7" for the GMT 900's, it is just a 2" level stuffed on the 5" kit.

BDS has a 4" kit but it is pricey...

I've never heard anything terrible about RC on the 800's, but y'all know how I feel about that company. In some cases the only difference between the 4" and 6" kits is as stated above. I would never buy a kit like that if I wanted 6". In other instances the kits are adjustable from 6" to 8". IMO I would get a body lift and level before I would buy a 4" suspension lift.

Matt with your truck how did you make the linkage work with the floor 4x4, at least I thought you had mentioned before that you had manual 4x4. Also, if he wanted to run his stock wheels do you know of any kit that the new lift knuckles would allow this without running spacers? For some reason I feel like it isn't possible with factory 17's.

I guess if you don't have a GMT 900 your lift questions will never get answered KMGZ400. :tumbleweed:

yeah i know. the GMT800 crowd is getting smaller and smaller

Still a few of us around. If you're only going 4" I think stock wheels would look just fine. If they did look undersized you could always get a taller tire and still maintain stock wheels. I've only leveled mine so far. The most I want to do is maybe another inch (suspension), then maybe a mild body lift later on. The only reason I haven't yet looked into it is because my wife has given the order to get my side steps fixed/replaced first. Once you get your truck the way you want it, let us old 800 guys see the pics.

The linkage was adjusted on mine. Back in the day you had to cut and weld, but I don't know about the 800s. I'm sure there are some 800 kits out there that will let you keep factory 17s but I'm almost certain RC isn't one of them, as their 900 knuckles don't allow for this. If this kit is the only viable option then get some some wheels spacers. Good ones are speedy but they're cheaper than new wheels.
