I was not going to post to this. I also have a 6.2 with some additions. If you put mine in tow mode it is a different vehicle. Trans shifts better, r's are better and power galore. I am leaving tomorrow morning, going to Raleigh, NC. towing a 14x 6.5 vnose trailer with my 900 lb Harley tied down in it. I doubt if my mileage goes down very much. They put the program in the computer to take care on this stuff. Use it....

Glad i have an old 8.1 and allison... this afm sounds like a pain..

why did the dealer say diablo instead of blackbear??

I darn sure would not like to pay for your fuel... LOL BTW L9h does not have AFM...

First of all, I'd be happy that you found a dealership that not only won't void your warranty if you tune it...but they actually recommend it! That's awesome, haha. Possible loss of warranty is the only reason I haven't tuned mine yet. Also, if you don't want to tune it, just run it in M5 and you won't have to worry about AFM

Except if something big fails, GM will still ask them for the PCM data and they'll still see the tune and warranty will still be denied.

Well that's the big debate....if you put the stock tune back in before taking it in...can they still tell it's been tuned??? I've heard conflicting stories. :dunno:

He recommended that box tune or have blackbear tune the truck, he did not show preference for either

It is not the getting up to speed it is the maintaining if it on the high way. I always use tow mode while towing but it does not keep the engine from going to v4 on the highway effectivelly bogging the truck down like i hit the brakes.

That's why you don't screw around with canned tuners, buy a second computer keep your stock files uploaded in them. If it has to go back just swap computers quickly...

Well from the TSB that was posted I gathered they could and since no one has posted a definitive answer other than saying "with normal equipment" the dealer can't see it, I'd tread carefully.

you just have to swap computers. If you swap them out pretty sure your okay...

Also to the OP, I had no clue you didn't have a choice between afm or not...that's so stupid. Afm is a joke anyways.

Can't swap TCMs on the new trucks and that's where some of the biggest gains are I think, cleaning up the shifting.

Roger that. That's why I haven't tuned my new truck yet. Although I'm sure it would drive much better if I did.

Oh there's no debate that a BB tune wakes the truck up like nothing else for the cost. They do great work but until I either get a definitive answer or I hit 100k, I'm gonna keep the tune OE.
