let me just come in and say exhaust fluid for a diesel is gay.

carry on.

If someone is too stupid to top off a fluid every few thousand miles they shouldn't be let out of the house alone. My friends fathers LML Duramax is ungodly powerful stock.

It's not only refilling it that people don't like, I guarantee you that those same people have no issue with changing their oil when it's time. What people don't like is that they are forced to have a useless and unnecessary system.

Come on man, you're like my internet family, can't we just agree to disagree! Diesel is not the way of the future and the manufacturers know it. Neithers electric, but that's another story. People who buy half-tons don't want the drawbacks of a diesel and do you really think towing 20K with a diesel 2500 or 3500 is "safe" ? And the longevity argument is moot because if anyone kept a diesel as long as it took to wear out gas engine they would most

likely face repairs more expensive than replacing an entire gas engine- I've seen it myself and that wasn't even an emissions diesel! We are still friends, right

Nope not friends. Lol Jk. I still think diesel is the way to go, my dads f-350 with urea Inj. Gets 9L per 100 kms @ 110km/h that's like 25-26 mpg. That's crazy!!! Let's see a gasser pull that off. I'm done.

No man it does, he made it from fort Mac to Calgary (750kms) and still had just under 1/4 tank left. It's what the DIC says on the average thing, so maybe ya could be off a little but either way it could have got like 900 kms to one tank of diesel. That's pretty good. It's 2012 6.7 powerstroke stock everything with an old man topper on it. I'm dead serious, I didn't believe it either until I seen it with my own eyes.

About my truck lol, I still haven't picked it up!!! Been workin in Alberta. Going Saturday to get it LOL.

His dad's truck is a loaded dually LTZ. I don't have as much money as his dad, nor do I have even the small lame Home Depot utility trailers to tow. There is no reason for me to own a diesel, as much as I'd love to have one. I've had the truck a year and a half and it's pulled a trailer once to move me to Michigan and that UHaul trailer would look absurd behind a HD truck. :D

If I had the money, I'd buy a trim-similar 2500HD Duramax just because I do like diesels and I'd be thrilled with it. But we're talking well over $40k and I simply can't afford that much truck without living in the back seat of it.

This. It's completely ridiculous and just to please tree hugging bastards that think diesel is evil.

Then I suggest you buy a Cummins and enjoy not having a urea injection system. Hope that makes ya real happy cause the rest of the truck is outclassed by GM and Ford hardcore.

Well, I started some of this so I will throw some more out there. The convex mirror to me on the top of the outside mirror sucks, I did not like it at all. The lid, oh bhe back of the front center seat had a nice little cut out that was just the right size to lay my iphone, if that is worth anything.

As far as power of GM trucks I can cover a wide range of them. Had a 1986 2500 350 4 speed manual, could pass anything on the road but a gas station. As long as I was on hard ground if I could get hooked to it I could pull it. It liked rpms for a sb, last truck I had that took Regular regular (it used leaded gas). Traded it for a 99 2500 with the 6.0 and auto, it would pull but I don't think it had the grunt that the 86 had, it may be because of the 4 speed vs the auto. The 99 really liked to pull at the higher rpms 4500 and up it would scream but keep picking it up and putting it down. Now lets move to the 2011 2500 HD Dmax!!! That thing is just on a different planet than the other two trucks listed above. I get about 2 mpg better on my daily drive than with the 99. It pulls all the trailers that I have hooked to it like they are not their. Loaded it gets about double the milage that either one of the other trucks would get. So as long as I need to pull something a Dmax is all that I want. :jester:

And buy it quick Sarah. 2012 last year of the non piss tank cummins lol. The new dmax in stock form is unreal but The LML is sad too, GM blocked off the ECM from tuning. In other words EFI Live isn't available for the new dmax :-( only canned tunes. And their is no way around hiding the tuning on the new ones. The trannies can "sense" any extra torque forced on it, save it for all to see. Even if you tried to run stock tune you can't because the tuners you can run (h&s, bully dog couple more) cant save the stock file before removing it. Thus your warranty is null and void, it's really sad it has turned out this way with diesels but that is what's happening because all those damn new emissions laws. So if anyone knows someone running a "smoke" tune, slap them and tell them to grow up. They are ruining the diesel world.

Scoop up the lmm and LBZ dmaxs while you can, nobody is gonna want the newer ones once they are so choked out it won't even be worth buying one.

Yep! Agreed.Resale will also suffer on the new diesels because nobody wants them out of warranty! I feel I'm being too harsh on the diesel guys but really I'm just angry I didn't get one in the "good days". Jim I learned to drive on an '86 6.2 diesel and I loved it- Could pull anything but was the slowest vehicle known to mankind! My family traded that for an F-350 7.3 non-turbo 5-speed and it might be my favourite vehicle of all time even if the truck fell apart around it. We then traded that for a 7.3 turbo and that's when it all started to go bad-omg the money my dad spent on that trying to keep it on the road. Those memories will never die though and I've had many gas trucks I've loved as well and driven all kinds gas and diesel for work. I understand why you love your truck, Jim, I like it too! Nothing compares to a diesel towing or for work, period. But just do me one little favor, please? You are comparing your '99 6.0 HD to your New LML, right? I don't know if you have driven a 2011-up 6.0 HD, but let's say you have. Now try comparing the first '01 duramax to a '12 6.0 and you might understand where I am coming from. The duramax is still better at towing, but you couldn't help but be impressed at how far the 6.0 has come!

And Chevyboy you better give us some pictures of that beast when you get it!

Thanks Mike- the exact point I' trying to make! Not towing- no sense. When you tow with a diesel you can't help but smile, but the gas is better for just about every other situation. Some people think diesel is better than gas because it costs more. It's not- it's just different and people need to prioritize what they want from their truck!

Ram has locked out tuners on their Hemi currently & am curious what GM will do for the 2014's gassers just around the corner.

Haven't heard of Ford locking out either gas or diesels yet. But do not know that for sure either way.

Personally think it is complete bs that a buyer is locked out of options that they may think will improve what they own, particularly for the price these things all are.
