Took truck in and I'm not smiling

Got the truck back. $1500. they could have at least washed the truck since they were bending me over

You got took, bent over, no reach around, no kiss, not even a lil spit to make it slip in easier!!! No way in hell that job should have been over $1000.00! I used to be a dealership mechanic for 10+ years I wouldn't have been able to sleep charging someone that much for shit they didn't need

I agree with the others-find a new dealership. I'd even take in the repair receipt and get their feelings on the parts and charges. I don't mean to add sand to your, uh...encounter, but my dealership washes your truck after an oil change. Definitely time to move on.

Always sorry to hear about bad dealer experiences.

One of my pals at work took his Ford F250 Super-Duty Deisel to the dealer with a leaking head gasket last week. They took it out for a "diagnostic test run", now the engine is seized, the transmission has puked fluid all over the ground, plus coolant and engine oil. Dealer says "It came in that way". They quoted him $16,800 to fix it all. He is shopping for an attorney.

I took it to a small town dealership about 30 mins north because they were actually able to get me in, instead of me leave my truck there for a week before they could touch it. They have definitely lost my business

I am also a long time licensed mechanic, that worked for years at dealership, but, I don't think anyone here has enough information from the OP post to make any diagnosis as to what was required to repair his truck. I would think that if anyone would realize that it would be a mechanic. Not saying he did not get taken, just saying there is no where near enough info given to even offer a "good guess" diagnosis.

Stories like yours are the reason why I would never consider taking my truck to a dealer not even for routine maintenance.

Dealer shops..... My dealer is the best and nicest I have ever met, but the people in the shop that work on your car/truck (not the service writers) just don't care and are not careful. I have bought both a truck last year and a car this past month (very happy) and each has been in once for warranty work and they both came back scratched up, not minor scratches. I have to take my time off and get something fixed that I should not have had to do. As far as I am concerned, my vehicles will never go to a dealer unless they will not run and only under a warranty. When the warranty is gone, I will have my buddies shop fix it, like he has done for all the other vehicles I have when I don't have time to fix it. I blame it on the flat rate system. Computer helpdesks are the same way. It would be nice if you could buy a car at a discount and they only warranty it for a year, whay pay for something that gets in the way.

When I found a bubble on the 69 Camaro I used to have, The shop doing the work ask "so just this side or both"

Me: "JUST this side, only one side. The other is fine, I pulled the trim off to check" A week late I call and he tells me the metal was original, he had never seen that on a 69 Camaro before, how amazed he was.

I come back weeks later and the price has doubled. Why? They did both sides. I told him thats too bad, your only getting paid for one, not my fault you can't follow directions. He claimed he found rust on the other side( TOTAL BS), and I told him he should have called to see it since I live 13 blocks away.

Moron cut off good original metal to try to sneak extra profit. And to boot, they never wet sanded the "seam" from the edge of the repair on EITHER side(the car had a show quality finish going in). I just did that myself.

One time I took the Mazda for it's first transmission flush. They told me A BG transmission flush take 2 hours. I told him that isn't the truth. He said if I had experience I would know. I told him, that, in fact, I worked BG flush machines when I was younger, so he has has been misinformed or he is trying to buy time. I made sure the conversation was loud enough the other cutomers started getting "an oh crap, these tools already have my car" look. Not only that....lol....he then tells me my cabin filter is overdue and clogged. I told him thats funny considering I replace it two months ago....at this point the guy just knew he was shooting himself. The other customer in the waiting ares was just staring at the service adviser, like he watching a train wreck.

People lie to me about service and I embarrass them in front of their other customers. And you can bet I filled out the survey on the Mazda moron. I didn't see him there the next two visit so he may have gotten his due. I actually go to them at first as naive, because I always take the car in and act like I have no clue what the services are called and ask what they are, this shows me how honest they are when they come back with recommendations.
