Now i guess back to the topic . Why is Toyota consider a girls truck. They seem to sell a good product. I am on a GM truck fourm but never really understood the intense rivalry between people owning different brand names.

It's because Toyota is a foreign brand and full size trucks were for decades strictly an American product. I don't know that the rivalry would be as big in Canada since there aren't any Canadian automotive brands that are the "home town" guys.

Fast can also mean one type of car or truck against another of the same type. Years ago we had a 11 second Nova, yeah not fast right, oh but it was a straight 6 cylinder with 230 cubic inches and a power glide!! It launched at 9,000 RPM with both front tires in the air!!! Worse thing was the was a Ford Maverick in town that had a 300 6 Cylinder that when we raced each other it would look like some of the pro cars were coming to the line with people coming out of the wood works to watch the race and it was always nip and tuck between them. So I can understand the fact that just because it is not a "race car" does not mean that it is slow. :jester:

Its not just with toyota its with all the rest of the brands too. There just not GM's.

I (we) bought GM because thats what I (we) wanted. I far as I'm concerend my GM truck is the best make out there or I wouldn't have bought it.

I guess the main issue is we have real different ideas of what "fast" really means.

And you have only reiterated my point. Trucks are intended to be used for hauling, towing, and moving things. GM did not design the Silverado to be fast. It takes a 3rd party to add $16,000 worth of options to make it so. The AC seats and all the other luxury options do not change or alter what the truck is made to do. It just make the experience more pleasant to some.

This is all goes back to the comment when some said "hope he has the mods to back that up". I guess I should ask what "mods" he was referring to. I assumed go fast mods, but I could be wrong. Not sure how a Tundra is less cute because its faster?

i took the decal as meaning the tundra is a woman's truck...inferior to the gm....and the 800 half-tons are inferior in towing, hauling, power, speed, etc...so my intent was there should be something to back that up- because it would be embarrassing to talk the talk and then get walked over. then again, the decal could also mean other things (styling, longevity, durability, for example)- but thats how i interpreted it- its womanly because its delicate and cant do the things his truck can (there is more than one way to interpret that). that truck could also be an HD too which would change everything.

i know better is subjective, and i feel my truck is better than a tundra too, but there are areas where its not- and a lot of it is in those objective areas.

and obviously a truck isnt going to be as fast as a corvette, and speed is relative, but its usually safe to assume that a truck that is faster and with more power will tow easier than another (most things being equal- i know there are many other things to consider, but generally).

I don't understand the "faster" argument with trucks. I see this a lot on this forum. Seriously, who gives a F if one truck if "faster" than the other??? I don't know about you guys, but I certainly didn't buy a truck because it was fast. I have never seen a "fast" production truck. If you go out looking to a buy a truck and buy the fastest one, than you're an idiot in my book.

You want fast, buy a Vette or CTS-V or Mustang GT500... those are fast. Trucks are not fast, and will never be fast! Get over it.

PS-> IIRC, he has a 2500HD, which Toyota clearly does not have an answer for.

Yes!

Dang slow truck, shoulda bought a Vette and left the family at home... Nah, shoulda bought a CTS-V, paid the luxury tax and quit camping... Nah, shoulda bought a Mustang and left the dog at home(or walked him on the timing chain). Oh, who am I kidding. I bought a truck that is not fast and will never be fast, I'll have to get over it.

The timing chain comment was just a friendly jab at Ford fans. With the twin overhead cam modular V8 that they run the timing chain is , uh, not short. As for racing all of you, I'll bet I beat all of you to the gas station. Actually, I get about 13mpg city and 18mpg hwy, or 1mpg better than the stock 6.2 is rated. Probably related to running premium fuel and trying to be a good boy...
