Saw this on the road today... I thought it was hilarious.

right, because everyone wants a truck that struggles to get up to speed.

No one has said that nor does it matter because even a base model half ton will easily make speed unloaded.

If you're truck struggles to get up to speed, maybe you should upgrade.

Not all Tundras come with the 5.7, just like not all Silverados come with 6.0L or 6.2L.

A 6.0L Silverado will out due a Tundra 5.7 in EVERY aspect!

I have no problem with someone liking the way a Tundra looks, its your opinion; but if you are buying a truck for it's intended purpose and you decide to buy a Toyota, I personally have to question your judgement.

There is no "intended" purpose of a truck anymore. Vehicles are made more for luxury and looks than anything else. My 5 year old truck has 22k miles on it and has hauled a load maybe 5 times or so. Its more about my preference and hauling a family of 5 to the beach from time to time. If we all bought trucks just for their intended purpose most of us would have diesel WTs.

Not every single truck has the same intended purpose though. If your intention is to haul a 53' horse trailer then a 3500HD is ideal. If your intended purpose is to haul family and luggage around, then a 1500 crew is probably ideal. This is why there are so many options when buying a truck...

If your intended purpose for a truck is to go get groceries and use as a daily driver, then you probably shouldn't get a 3500 crew cab long bed... Thats stupid. I'm sure there are plenty of people that do... doesn't make it right.

That being said, at no point is a truck intended to be fast off the line in a drag race... I still don't understand that argument, or reasoning.

I understand Callaway (and others)made special edition trucks and SUVs... they are limited production by a company. Not made by GM, Ford, Toyota, etc...

speaking about specialty trucks i would love to get my hands on a SS 454 truck to rebuild and drop in one of gms 572 crates in it. I love those years of chevy trucks.

Call away doesn't make the truck. GM still makes the truck since you have to not only.buy the truck you want, but then spend another 16k or more to have them customize the truck with supercharger and all their special appearance upgrades. I would love the same if I made that kind of cash or busted my ass for many years too!

I understand they dont make the truck, I think everyone knows that.

Its a specialized vehicle for a specialized market. Same as Lingenfelter, Hennessey, Saleen, etc...

I think they are really cool too. I wouldn't pay for one myself, but I understand why someone would. They look great, get up and go, and not many of them out there. You wont see someone else with the same truck on the road, which I think is a big attraction to most buyers.

While Callaway doesn't make the truck, the mods are authorized by GM, and sold on GM lots. My truck was purchased, as is, brand new on the lot with a 5 year 100,000 mile GM warranty, Callaway options already installed. Callaway is the only aftermarket company with an RPO code from GM on the corvette, and has been building Callaway corvettes for over 25 years.

Somebody should have told Dodge that when they put out the SRT10, or Ford when they put out the supercharged from the factory F150 Lightning, or Toyota when you can go buy a TRD supercharged Tundra form your local Toyota dealership. Times have changed, and so have trucks. The reasoning behind it? That's what people want. The argument? There really isn't one. It's fact. Trucks today offer heated and air-conditioned leather seats, steering wheels, etc. From factory Bose sound systems to DVD players with wireless headphones, navigation, remote start, twenty inch wheels... the list goes on and on.There are people like me who want the best of many worlds in one vehicle, a multi-purpose ride that serves many functions. I can haul the family on vacation, I can haul a ten thousand pound trailer for work or play. I can haul furniture home from the store or the new mower I got last week. I can haul tents, lumber, coolers and backpacks when we go camping. And yes, when the urge hits or a teenager in a civic starts stirring up the bumble bees at the light next to me, I can haul ass also.

How long will this muscle car revival and hot rod pick up truck renaissance be around? Probably not long. With all of the talk about fuel efficient everything in the near future, it may end as quickly as it (re)started. I got in while I still could. Was it expensive? Yes, but I'm a dock worker and not an attorney or doctor, so it's not as bad as people think. I traded in an '07 LTZ VortecMax with a high interest rate, financed my Callaway at zero percent interest, and my truck payment went down. I didn't have to tear apart my truck, void any warranties, find wheels tires superchargers cold air intakes exhaust systems programmers tuners custom badging etc., or save up thousands to purchase all of it, or find anyone to put it all together and still void my warranty- Nope, I just went down to my local Chevy dealer, bought the truck I've wanted and worked my whole life to have, and my payment went down. Only in America

thats what i did, i drove that buick everyone here seems to hate for 5 years from age 16 to 21 on my 22nd birthday i went and took the 3000 down payment i worked my ass off to save up and put it on this truck it has almost everything I want aside from some upgrades i myself have to take care of.. but as far as a stock truck its exactly what i want.. theres no better feeling than to work your ass off and call something your own.
